Ed, great job on getting this thread up so quick, great comparison of all three cars together stock, eisenman, supersprint.

Stock is like buzz when rev'd at idle its almost silent

Eisenman much more bass & growl then all together when you punch the throttle at idle you could definitely tell its on, nice bassy humming sound

SS was more of a high pitch w/ a growl when rev'd, I didn't notice how its at idle.

Their all great but my vote is for the Eisenman for sound & oval for making the rear lines much smoother it just flows. Also remember that Dino doesn't have headers I can't imagine how its going to sound w/ them: INSANE

Hearing these exhaust in person so much better but we have these vids it relive the moment, thanks again...

Bill. Great to meet you today.
+1 on the vote for Eisenmann and the oval tips. I do differ in my perception of the different exhausts. Stock, I agree, too quiet. E-race: louder than SS, higher pitched, more like F1. SS Race: Lower pitch growl, a bit more rattle-y in the lower revs, a bit more 'muscular'. Both sound great.
I have to stop going to these meets. My bank account is rapidly shrinking....

Excellent resource, Bonehead.

The headers make a very noticeable difference on the Supersprint setup. The idle sounds the same, but under load it is a lower, more mechanical sound that is even further from stock. Compare with:

and

Definitely a more pronounced growl from what I can tell from your vids MRich. Even though I think it's still less drastic than the E-race, this SS combo is NOT for those looking for a subtle change in the exhaust note. Based on your vids and what I heard today, addition of the x-pipe I think would strike a good middle ground for those waffling b/w the SS Race and E-race.

Awesome vids!

Boner,

Great sound clips. Seems like you all had a great time. Would have liked to come out but then again I did have the privilege of working today grrrrrrr. Must say that Dino's car sounds far better in person, very exotic. Mike's was more bassy and mean.

Regards,

Vic

You are exactly right. Also, the SS Race with X-pipe but without headers would provide a somewhat higher pitch note under load than the setup with the headers.

Ed-

Thanks for putting this together. My vote goes to the Interlagos Blue M5 w/ SS mufflers, x-pipe and SS headers. It sound tight and muscular v the Eisenmann. Listening to the sound from outside the car I hear more fundamentals and 2nd order harmonics in the exhaust note. More euphonic and enjoyable to me. Like the difference between tube and solid state electronics. I wonder if it sounds that good on the interior?

From what I've heard in person and in audio & vidoe clips I prefer the Supersprint with the x-pipe and headers. Unfortunately that's a lot of Arbys!

My apologies Matt. I should've recorded vid from the inside of the cabin. But you're right on with the 'tight and muscular' description. Very throaty, deep. Definitely different in character to the Eisenmann. Just depends on what you're looking for. Right now, I'm partial to the Eisenmann. Just sounds like an F1 car:) Unfortunately, both setups are A LOT of Arby's!:)

Great videos, thanks. I really enjoy the videos when you drive away fro mthe cmaera, more real life sound than when revving at idle.

Were the organizers from M3forum cool with you guys revving your cars at the Bear Mt lot?

Reason I ask is because I was at their last Bear Mt bbq when there was a M5 w/ E race and E sec 1+2. The organizers seemed to like flying under the radar and weren't too happy when that M5 was simply driving normally outside the lot...

They seemed cool about it. Actually, the loudest, most obnoxious exhaust was a Kressieg on one of the M3's. Now that thing was LOUD when he revved it.

yblocgerg actually took vid of that one. Hey Greg, where's the video, man???
