It's never been done before, at least never posted here. Our M5 Guru, Jcolley, now operating as fast attack motorsports says it's a monumental task being there is no coding for the S85 and an F10 DCT. I'd be very surprised if this ever happens. Just my two cents.

Gintani has done 3 cars already equipped with the DCT transmission and it is amazing. I trust them only with this build. I will dropping the car off in two weeks and pick it up after four weeks once it is fully completed.

So let me get this straight. Some tuning company is gonna call up the M division and say 'hey we need the DCT trans and DME coding for your E60 CSL since we want to do a DCT swap' and that's it? What does that mean 'there is coding'??
Simply that your statement that there is no coding for the S85 and the DCT is wrong.

Never gonna happen, at least not legitimately from BMW.

The software doesn't have a valid street release approval for public road use, so BMW would be putting themselves on the line if it were ever to get handed over without legitimately going through the public use validation process. All drivetrain and powertrain related software releases get an individual release/approval for the component, then a group "Verbund" release/approval for all the software/components together as partner components in the vehicle stating that the components (DME, DSC, EGS, etc.) are approved to work together on the same software level. This is how the whole i-step process was born and came to fruition.

Simply that your statement that there is no coding for the S85 and the DCT is wrong.
The only possibility is if the software was privately written...the legitimate S85 DCT software from BMW will never reach public hands unless it is stolen and unknowingly distributed like the rest of the software and development tools seem to end up.

I've set my calendar to check in in 3 weeks. I'm hoping this isn't another pipe dream thread; i'd personally really like to see the DCT V10 combo come to life with a little more proof than people claiming it's been done before with no hardcore proof to validate the yip-yap

I will keep you all updated once I drop the car off in roughly 2 weeks. Gintani is always packed and busy so the first date available is two weeks out. I can't wait to be fully finished with the project.

im not saying it cant happen ........

honestly i want it to happen so i can buy one ......

there are a lot of very knowledgeable ppl on board ...... a lot of them have significant resources and have modded their cars and upgraded motors to the point that it is borderline insanity ...... smg is another weak point. if anyone had successfully done this at this point we would all know and it would be on youtube .......

the s85 has been out of production longer than they produced it ...... lots would have this ....... as you can see no one has it .........

Good luck

would a dct transmission hold the weight of the car?

aren't there any relation with with Transmission also and car weight?
The OP said that the M6 would receive a biturbo system. So I really don't think that the DCT trans is a OEM one, they probably are going to upgrade it too.. so the weight will not be a problem!

The F10 M5 is heavier than the E60 M5 and also has more torque.

Which transmission are they using? The one from an E9X M3 or the F10 M5 version? Is there a difference?
All manual cars use the GS6-53BZ. The transmissions are all technically interchangeable, but the internals vary based on torque specs as well as some exterior pieces like the output flange and the mounting brackets. Same applies to the GS7 DCT trans.
