Hi guys,

First of all this is not an M5 question - sorry :)

I am in the process of finalising an order for a new E60 (diesel ).

(it's for my wife, she's 6 months pregnant with our first and needs to replace her coupe)

One of the options listed is the interior lighting package, this includes additional lights in glove box, puddle lights in the rear doors, additional lighting in the boot (trunk), a light in the exterior mirror that will illuminate the exterior of the car when you press the unlock button (for those who cannot find the door handles at night :3:) and 'ambient lighting' in the front and rear doors.

By any chance would any of you guys have pictures of such lighting?

Anything at all will help.

Pretty sure I will go ahead and spec the package but I am very curious as to how it will look.

Thanks in advance,

Richie.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Its the little white LEDs on the rear-view mirrors. I don't have a pic however, sorry.

They can be helpful at night, but they're no spotlight or anything like that.

If no one gets you a pic by May 2nd, I'll get one for you then because that is when I get to go home from college.

Many thanks for that - appreciate the help.

The curiosity is getting the better of me, we'll have the new car in July so I'll know for sure then.

Does your car have additional lighting on the interior door cards?

I have the lighting on the bottom of my mirrors when the car unlocks. I love, it looks really cool, but it's not super bright. I will try and get a picture of it when I get a chance.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think my dads car has lighting by the bottom of the doors. I'll take a look next time

My car has this and yes its nice especially the door mirror lights but how much extra is it?
The aditional lights are as you mentioned,
mirrors - (puddle lights)white leds
extra light on boot lid (inside which lights up the first aid kit)
interior door handles
the storage bins on the front door cards
Went out and checked, thats all I can see.

The best bit is defo the puddle lights, although these are no were near as nice as the ones on an E90, they are in the bottom of the door handles front and back. :applause:

Long story short - my wife is 6 months pregnant and is driving an E46 325ci and it's starting to get very difficult for her to get in and out of the car.

So, I have agreed to sell the 325 to my brother, I love the car and really didn't want to sell it so at least it's staying in the family :M5thumbs:

I have ordered a 520d for July delivery, we have new rules with regard to the VRT and road tax so from July the car is actually almost €9k less expensive and the road tax will be €290 (€150 if we went for the manual), my road tax is €1491!!

I specced it up pretty well and one of the options was the interior lighting package, I think it was and extra €250 or €300.

We were going to go for a used car but to be honest the driving factors were the price drop and the cheap road tax, plus, the new engine (from MY Sept. '07) is a LOT better than the older 2.0 diesel, much more quiet and it really doesn't feel like it is strained pulling (or pushing) the E60.

It has 350Nm of torque and with a re-map (if you are that way inclined) it will have 400Nm and over 200bhp - pretty decent for a 2.0 diesel!!

Sounds nice did you go for a sport version or the se?
Below is a link which has a few pics of my 535 in it, they really are a great car and yea the tax in the south is crazy:confused2

Yeah, fookin' car tax!!!

I almost bought a 2 year 535d, brilliant car! but the new 520 was actually less money!

All along she wanted the sport version, until she drove them, you know yourself what the roads are like and the sport just felt too firm for her, plus, it is going to be the baby transporter so comfort was important, so, we went for the SE but we ordered it with the sport interior, the 325ci has a full M3 interior and she really noticed the lack of support with the standard SE seats.

This is the spec I ordered;

Thats going to be a really nice car I have the blinds on the M and although a bit of a gimmick they work really well.
I know what you mean about the new car thing, I always aim a year or two old but just when im about to get the car always seem to remind myself of all that I could get for the money brand new.
Agree about the roads, to be honest im trying my very best not to bring my car into the south at all because they are so bad. Interestingly enough though the M5 is much more comfy on the softest suspension setting than the 535. You must post some pics when you get her and im sure you both will enjoy it.

Will post pics as soon as we have it.

The roads have improved a huge amount here over the last few years but the minor roads can be very bad and where I live means you have to use the minor roads quite often.

Have you checked out ni-bmw.co.uk? Good bunch of lads there, they are organising a meet on Sunday 27th, a lot of the guys from bmw-driver.net (South) will be heading up too.
