I thought there was a clear difference in power between those cars, but last day i raced with my E39 M5 against one E36 M3 320 HP for sure, until 180 kph there was no advantage for the M5. We were 4 in the M5, but they were 4 also in the M3 !
Just curious, for previous/actual E36 M3 owners, do you feel a real difference in power betw those cars ?
Torque at low rpms is high in the M3 ?
As I have driven now for about 4000 km (before losing my license) with my E36 M3 3,0 against 6 E39 M5 during our recent trip to Germany, I felt it I really lost them above 200 km/h, but as long as you rev the M3 to 7200 you could keep up with the M5 quite well.
