Hey Guys:

My DSC and brake ABS lights will not shut off. There is a message that reads: "Tire Control Inactive" on display. I repeatedly push the DSC but nothing happens.

Anyone ever have this happen?

I just got the Dinan 3.45 Diff, Stage 3 suspension, Brembo BBK, Dinan CAI, and, Dinan exhausts put in. What could be the cause?

Please.

It's possible that the installer damaged rotation sensors when they did the BBK install. I'd have them check that first.

Good luck.

There was a problem with the E39's steering position sensor. I experienced it with my 540i 6spd. The steering wheel would constantly squeak when turned, and when the ECU realized it was faulty, the gauges would freak out, then freeze, reset and the DSC, ABS, and brake lights would not turn off. The ECU will disable those features for safety because it has no idea where the wheels are turned and how to counter-act a slide.

Hope this is your problem as it is an easy dealer fix :M5thumbs:

Check fuses. I believe 17, 30 and 31 are the ABS/ DSC, but look at the card. Easy to check and eliminate as a possible cause.

I had this on my 330Ci Convertible twice. The first time it was caused by a faulty steering angle sensor. Meaning the DSC didn't know where the wheels were pointing so it shut down. The second time was because the tracking/suspension geometry was a long way off. Coopers BMW Banstead reset all the suspension and the DSC worked again, not to mention the car felt fantastic once more.

This exact phenomenon happened to me last night. I got caught in some snow :crying: and for whatever reason the DSC, ABS, and Brake lights all came and stayed on grrrrrrr . I was none to happy about it. So I got her home, garaged her, had a cherrsagai and went back to the garage in an hour after the snow had all melted out from under her and fired her up and boom, lights gone. She acts like it never happened... Go figure. Could me getting snow jammed somewhere cause this to happen?

My steering angle sensor was a very intermittent problem so i doubt snow would cause it

Called my tuner guy and he said to bring it in and he will look at it. He thinks it may be a sensor problem

on my 540iT

It started out as a sensor problem... then the ABS would kick in at low speeds for not aparent reason... no big deal I thought

then they kicked in at speeds in a turn, under an over pass and in traffic, guard rails, etc... car was bucking because the ABS decided to control the wheels independently (front right, rear, left... etc) at 80ish ... not fun

replaced the sensors... went away... came back ...needed a new ABS controller module (not cheap)

pleae get this addresses ASAP, as it could be a REAL bad scenario
