The plan is to hollow out my primary cats, leaving the stock chamber in place. I then have to drive 370 mi (6hrs) to the dyno shop in order to tune the vehicle and remove the anticipated CEL-Increased Emisions fault.

My questions are:

Will there be any long term damage to any part on the vehicle (o2 sensors?) driving for the extended amount of time with a CEL?

Worst case senario, car goes into limp mode. Can I drive that distance in limp mode?

Thanks in advance for the help.

You should be ok...I just wouldn't go WOT. They will reset the ECU for you after the tune.

Drive it like you stole it, it will be OK. The cell due to cats removed only indicates that the cats are not functioning to expectations, and all else is just fine.

Don't worry, it is just a cat efficiency issue. You can drive like that as long as you can tolerate the light, or get software to make the light go away.

On a side note, were you interested in observing the dyno day we are still trying to organize? If so, it has been moved to Charlotte on April 15, FYI
