1 day left..

Anyone getting this in advance... Please post a scan or results.

My guess is:

With R tires, 7 min 55

With normal tires. 8 min 05.

Any other guess.

Since I was totally wrong last time about the M5, Im going to be more modest today :)

If the M6 use the same tires as M5 I guess the time will be 8.09-8.10 min. If the M6 use R-tires I guess on 8.05-8.06 min.

Hopefully Sportauto are trying both tires.

Unfortunately, Sport Auto did not release the M6 Supertest as promised in the last issue!

The AM V8 Vantage was tested and did following lap times:
Nordschleife 8,03 min. (Pirelli P Zero Corsa), 8,13 min. (Bridgestone Potenza RE 50) - the R Compound Tires yield 10 s !!!
Hockenheim 1.14,8 min.
0-100 km/h 5,5 s
0-200 km/h 18,8 s

This means the Aston is a very good handling car, a LOT slower than the M5 straight line, but still equally fast on the Ring with stock tires and also much faster on Hockenheim ( what tire did the Aston use there ? )

However, Aston Martin weigh 1635 kg.

More times from Sportauto
1:13.8 --- 126.829 km/h - Manthey Porsche M390, 390 PS/1480 kg
1:14.8 --- 125.133 km/h - Aston Martin V8 Vantage, 385 PS/1635kg
1:15.8 --- 123.485 km/h – Audi RS4, 420 PS/ 1725 kg (R-tires and stiffer sport suspension.)
1:16.1 --- 122.996 km/h - Corvette C6 convertible, 404 PS/1499 kg
1:16.8 --- 121.875 km/h - Porsche 997 Carrera S convertible, 355 PS
1:19.1 --- 118.331 km/h - BMW Z4 3.0i, 231 PS/1483 kg
1:20.3 --- 116.563 km/h - Mercedes SLK 280, 231 PS/1396 kg

Just for the hell of it, The 1997 mod AC Schnitzer CLS II did this lap on 1:13,4 with STOCK tires, and that is impressive.

And yes the Aston is leighter, still a very good result. The car is beutifull to IMO

Track tires!

I wonder if the M6 can do a lap time lower than 8 min. on the Ring ?!?
If AM with R-tires does it in 8.03 min then its a big chance the M6 can do the same or better with R-tires. I hope Sportuato drive the M6 with both types of tires.

Actually not sure, the "Ring" is a very demanding track, probably the most demanding in the world.

Its not enough to have, just straigh line speed, or just a light body, or just superb handling and breaks. It must have fair combination of the all. A sub 8 min time should be possible, but how much faster than that, I have no idea.
I would be disapointed if it did not manage a clear sub 8 min lap, especially since an open ( no speed limiter) SL55 have done a very close to 8 min lap with Horst von saurma at the wheel.

It has the power to go well below 8 min, question is, will the tire manage to surviwe a killer lap with such an heavy rear wheel driven car with 500 Hp, and is it possible to get the power down....., I belive the breaks will do its job on a 1 or 2 lap run, the speed will help to cool then off from time to time.

I still hold my guess on 7,55 with track ( R tires)...., I cant imagine it will equall the 996GT2 7,45 even if that time was recorded on stock tires.
Also the Gallardo will be tough to beat, even if that also was done on stock tires.

But in all fairness, it is totaly unfair to compare a car with R tires with a car without.......

With R-tires the time is 1.14,8 min with normaltires the time is 1.16,7 min. On Nordschleife the time is 8.03 min with R-tires and 8.13 min with normaltires, according to Sportauto.

If the M5 was fitted with the same tires it would defintive have the same times as Aston Martin Vantage V8. I hope the M6 will be tested with R-tires and Normal-tires.

The 8.13 on normal tires is the same as the M5 time. Is this correct?

M6 SUPERTEST announced for Nov., 18th (next issue) now! :wroom:

Obviously, the M6 gets 51 points. The M5 got 50 points.
The obvious question is, how did you get that info about the result ;) have you seen it already. It cant be normal that they make the result official before they put it in the magasine.....
