Popular Science magazine has labeled the Dodge Magnum, "Best of whats new." Reasons stated were, It is a new kind of car somewhere between a station wagon and a sedan, with aggressive styling, high horsepower and handling similiar to a sports car. One web site even claims "Its standard 340-horsepower, 5.7-liter Hemi V8 rockets the car from zero to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds," in reference to the Magnum with the hemi.

In my neck of the woods, these "new" magnums are appearing at a rate similiar to that of the miata and new beetle. It is funny how the drivers of these things just seem to look down on my old wagon. Maybe its time to trade in my 10 year old wagon for a new magnum. hiha

It sounds to me like BMW was no less than 13 years ahead of the curve on this one.

Station wagons haven't sold too well over here. Some of the European models never make it to this side of the pond. Maybe the success of the Magnum will change that. I would love an M5 touring model.

The problem with the Magnum is that it's ugly. They're apparently selling it in Europe with the Chrysler 300C nose on it, which looks better so long as you're willing to tolerate the high-beltline, short-window look.

Outward visibility also sucks, and it also doesn't have the kind of interior cargo room that a wagon should have. If one thinks of it more as a giant hatchback one is probably closer to the mark.

I'll take an E34 M5 Touring any day of the week.

The E34 M5 Touring didn't have aggresive styling. It was a very understated car unlike the new M5.

Perhaps aggresive styling is what Dodge needed for its new Magnum. Hopefully, more people will see the benefits of a wagons vs. sedans.

I'd like both an E34 M5 and a new Magnum SRT-8.

I like it, very nice car. But i suppose it will have the same cheap and ugly interior like all american cars, sadly.

But the body is nice, reminds me on the Audi A8 Avantissimo(maybe they will build it someday)

no, definitly not :) i had 3 cars, 2 with crap interiours.

but fact is, i have never seen an american car with an exclusive, or even good interior, wonderfull bodys, great engines, but too much plastic inside, and mostly not even good designed plastic :)

European Cars have cheap interior too, but mostly only in the cheap and small cars, but BMW, Merc, Audi, Ferrari, Lambo, Jaguar, Bentley, Aston, Alfa, and sometimes VW and Opel know how to exite people.

But thats just my opinion.
