Cool Cat. The only way to see if the cable works is to install INPA and opening it and if the program sees your ignition ON and your Car ON then the cable should work. There are a lot of information on bmwcoding dot com. Sorry for the external link. It's really a good site for coding information

Ok thanks bimma328. Then I understand the cable must not work, because it never indicated anything ON. I'll have a look at that site.

Cool Cat it's important you install inpa properly. Make sure it's the version that shows bmw rectification group UK. If you want I can email you the proper files. Let me know.

Added to master DIY, thanks. I think this applies to only pre-April 06 cars right without an AUX jack in the center storage area?
My build is 2/06 and I am auxiliaryless/ipodless.

tyco pins

Yes for pre-lci e60 bmw with or without navigation and with or without logic 7. If I get my hands on a lci e60 I will try to retrofit an AUX input and add an update over here

HI!
Apparently I can't send you a message since i'm a new member... I hope this works...

I'm getting ready to do an AUX addition to my 2006 e60 but the only piece i'm missing are the tyco pins soldered onto the ends of the aux cable...
can you please give me a part number or guide me in the right direction?

Your DIY was absolutely perfect and I can't wait to get into it asap.

thank you!!!
Matt

^ No problem. It was a PITA to identify the correct terminal and sourcing a supplier, so I don't mind saving others the trouble.

Gavin, im driving to florida in a few months but kentucky is out of my league! lol
Driving to Florida? Now you are talking!!!
If you would be so kind, PM me. I'll take a cable and your installation services please. I am in Miami but my job covers the entire state (and southeast USA for that matter). I'll be happy to spend the gas money to drive to you, if only NOT to give the money to the stealer.
My beast is a 2006 with the Sirius Tuner and 6 disk changer. No aux...

BTW - I noticed you are in Montreal. I work for Sagemcom. Our North American HQ is in Montreal.

AG,

I've ordered the parts now waiting for them to arrive, I plan on installing the AUX input in the center arm rest. I've designed and had a small plate cut on which I will mount the 3.5mm jack along with a dual USB port. I'll connect each usb port to a 3A 12VDC to 5VDC converter which I will power with the 12V lighter jack in the rear of the center console. This way I can have power and aux connection tucked away. I'll be sure to take pics.

I already started with the coding for the AUX, considering i'm a newbie it felt like I jumped through hoops of fire to get the AUX to appear. Despite many errors and tons of research to fix them I still got an error at the end with NCS expert. In frustration I gave up and decided to go get a beer... it was then that I realized I had done something right since I now have AUX as an option!!!! yay!!kinggf

Though I could really use any help with one more thing. I REALLY would like to enable MP3 playback. I've done so much research on this that my head is about to explode.:crying:
I know I shouldn't ask but won't hurt.... do you or anyone know of a simple guide to tell me what to change where?! Maybe point me in the right direction? please?

As always, thankful for any advice.... and if I can be of any help to anyone with my limited knowledge, i'm in the Atlanta GA area and would be more than happy to try and help.

Thanks!

Hopefully this can help.

Hi Mike,

OK. Then how about when we add +KMP3 or +NAUX to the VO? These are needed for some cars which can't play MP3 or would like the Audio Aux In option enabled.

I believe we can change the following in:

CAPPL: mp3_ccc (to play mp3)

and
(to enable audio aux in)
CAPPL: aux_config
CAUDI: input_signal

But I had read that we need to supplement the +NAUX to the VO before enabling aux in for it to work. Is this true? Also, another question that I have is, do we need to process Car if we add an Option to the VO? Or just performing an FA_WRITE to the CAS And LMA would do?

Btw, my E63 and my friend's E60 are both way over their warranty period. :) So that's why we are experimenting with all possibilities

DONT HAVE 12 pin connector. what to do ?

im trying to do this for a friend who has an NOV 05 build date for his euro 2006 M5. But I dont have the 12 pin connector :( It is just not there. It was there for my 04 525i. Take a look at this video please. If I dont have the 12 pin black connector, is this not possible?

it should work as long as the male pins are on the radio, but you need to buy that female connector at the dealer or find it on another e60 at the scrap yard
