Hello,

I have been having problems with the smog pump getting stuck "on" (the pump that adds air to the exhaust on cold starts for emissions on US cars), so I am hoping to unplug it rather than go the m30 bracket route. There is a wire lead running from the back of the pump, my question is where does this wire unplug? How is the pump disconnected without removing it?

In front of cylinder 1 (between the fan and the engine) you will find a black plastic cover that attaches with a single nut to the front of the engine. Remove this and you will see three plugs/connectors if I remember correctly. One of these is connected to the air pump.

Hope this helps.

Good luck wih the unplugging, but I am curious why it would be stuck on - I'm not sure how likely it is that the signal is being sent to keep it on. If the clutch for the pump is sticking on you may have to remove the belt and use a shorter one for the A/C.
