I recently did the 400$ Dinan upgrade which raised red line in ALL gears 300RPMs and removed the top speed limiter. In addition, they improved the throttle by wire response for the car in regular AND sport mode. Chris Crawford from DINAN also told me that they did something to the throttle something so that the slight "pause" or "hesitation" between shifting has been removed and the "throttle remains open" i dont understand what this means HOWEVER i must say that i am very impressed by the increase "feel" of power and before where i almost ALWAYS bumped up against the rev limiter especially in 1st gear doesnt happen anymore and the car FEELS 10-15% faster at least and NO i do not work for DINAN or getting anything from saying this LOL just telling my feelings and i am definately an enthuiast that loves my M5 immensely!! I would strongly recommend everyone that really loves their car to do this upgrade, which was performed at my local bmw dealer here which does NOT delete ANY part of my warrany. Then, i would appreciate any stories from others that do this upgrade.
I was told that upcoming are cold air intakes, a different differintial in the rear end to produce 30-40 ft/lbs of torque and a light weight clutch. Also they are talking of an exhaust system that will improve sound however they dont expect to get much more HP from this.

awesome, jeff. my local bmw dealership is going through the sign-up process with dinan, and i will definitely get the software as soon as it is available here. i share your enthusiasm with the car, and am giddy thinking about it getting even better! thanks for the post.

Dinan software

Hello my fello menber's I recently purchase a M5 2000 and the seller told me that the car has a dinan exaust,intake and software.My question is how do i no for sure that it has dinan software installed.I can see the exaust and the intake,but i dont no how to determine a if it has a software installed.Please help.

I'm rather pleased with the shark injector. Unlike the Dinan tune, you can choose to keep the stock rev limit at 7k rpm, which is a welcome thing because of all the thrown rod bearing disaster stories...

Also unlike Dinan, the shark injector can automatically adapt to basic bolt ons such as exhaust, intake, pulleys...and they even have a tune for headers that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I have not seen any research or any proven information about raised rev limiter with Dinan and loss of rod bearings. Glad you are pleased with the Shark, Conforti and Dinan are BOTH reputable tuners. Remember, Dinan mods. were proven through research and had coverage by factory warranty. There are plenty of S2 running around with over 100K miles with no rod bearing issues. Although I certainly agree with you about costing an arm and a leg and don't forget you have to give up your first born child too!!!

I was told that a different differintial in the rear end to produce 30-40 ft/lbs of torque.

The gearing change will allow the car/engine to accelerate quicker to redline which gives you 9.5% torque increase as per Dinan. You will feel the difference for sure.

I had the stage 1 software installed last year by my Indie "Dinan" dealer in Orlando. It made a significant difference in throttle response, and though I'll probably never see a buried needle, I like the idea of being de-limited.

My tech installed a small sticker near the OBD plug when the software was loaded. Check in that area for a "Dinan software" sticker.
