A little info please from the crowd.
I have had two previous BMW's where the engine had a constant crankcase vacuum while running..such that if you removed the dipstick, the motor would idle very rough due to loss of engine vacuum. The engine in my M5 does not exhibit this characteristic which I find a little strange. Is this normal for an S38? The engine starts well, idles smoothly (well..at least a little lumpy), runs strong, no hesitation.
Comments please.

S38 is lumpy...Its an old school Bavarian hot rod motor, so you'll always have a little polka rythm going on.

The s38 case vent runs to the plenum, thus no vacuum.
