I am thinking about doing the Active ECU, adding a set of Supersprint Headers (which eliminate 2 cats), and replacing the remaining 2 cats with a straight pipe.

....In other words, I want to avoid purchasing Supersprint's high-flow cats.

I understand that replacing the stock headers with Supersprint's headers will eliminate one set of cats. There is a second set of cats that I would like to have removed and replaced with a straight pipe.

My question is: Has anyone sucessfully replaced the secondary cats with a straight pipe after applying the SS header and NOT produced any error codes?

If error codes are unavoidable, anyone know if the addition of O2 sensor simulators will "fool" the ECU into thinking that the cats are still in place?

Hoping someone can shine a light on this situation.

i believe aa software can also fix the cel if you ask them to. just tell them the upgrades and you shouldn't have a problem. they will bypass the rear 02 sensors through computer software.

Turner Motor Sport jsut wrapped up it's first install of headers on an M5 yesterday afternoon. I've got a set to be installed on my M5 next week, so I've been keeping close tabs on what's going on.

The set up they just finished includes SS Headers, X pipe and Race mufflers but included the stock cats. O2 sensor bungs had to be installed in the stock secondary cats and the wiring needed to be extended to accomodate the new connection point further down.

They haven't done extensive testing yet, but Will didn't mention any error codes when I heard from him yesterday. We probably won't hear too much more info until next week, unless dugmar starts posting.

As far as looking for experience with prior SS header applications, that's not going to happen; as far as we know, the car TMS did is the first in the US. They've got another starting next week...
