Is this one in the glove box? My car came with an M5 owner's manual instead of an M6. Do I have to remove the screws on the pull down glove box door to get to the fuses? I checked the trunk fuses and there wasn't one for the cigarette lighter. I need to hook up my radar but I can't get any power to it :sad2:

Wow,:eek:oohhh: thats crazy same thing happened to me, let me know what fuse number it is, so I can replace it too. My radar detector doesn't work either.

BMW cigarette lighters are touchy about providing the correct contact to power electronic devices. My guess is that you do not have a burnt fuse, but rather a bad contact. There is a simple device you can buy to improve the contact between european car's cigarette lighters. It is my understanding that the euro lighters are slightly different than most american car manufacturers. I have to wiggle, twist, and turn to get my performance box power adapter to work.

The better solution would probably be to tap the power for the mirror or the dome lights overhead. That is how mine are wired in all cases. I guess unless you are mounting the radar detector to the dash?

I would tap it from the light like I saw on a 5 series board but its just an escort passport and I will wait until I have a V1 to do any hardwiring.

Thanks again clyde

There is a scan of the fuse information card (located in the trunk) in this post:

The the cryptic symbols makes the card difficult to use ouich
BMW needs to provide a secret decoder ring :1:

Check the 20 amp fuse #87, located in the trunk :lightbulb:

On the 6 series it is either fuse position 61 or 87 in the trunk. Depends on model year. The penny in the lighter receptacle was my downfall also!

My car came without the lighter so it was just wide open. Now it has a flush charger USB charger in it so that the hole is always filled and my wife can plug her Iphone USB charge cable in and out while leaving the adapter in.
