I have been following this board for the last 6 months as I ordered a M5 in April99 and expect delivery this summer sometime. I am a Brit living in sunny Connecticut and would not mind talking to some East Coast M5 owners to here their experiances. This board has been a great source of information and I thought I would try and summerize what I think I need to be awair of when owning a M5. (When I moved here in 95 I bought a M3. great car although it was 240hp vs the 321hp I was used to!I also lost 2 rimms on the Hutch due to a pot hole)
1. Make sure the dealer does not put excessive pre miles on it
2. Read the manual!
3. Run it in properly
4. Buy a V1 detector
5. Set the seats and tires pressure
6. Look for a better gps system
7. Try and stop smiling (seems impossible)

Any more tips?

Nick,

why don't you join us on the M5 meet this Friday (March 31st)? I'm sure we'll be able to tell you what you need to know.

I didn't order my car, I just lucked in to it.From what I have read on the board ,you
should make sure that your dealer (and you)
fully understand the different interior options available and exactly how to order
what you want. There have been many posts
from guys who got an unwelcome surprise be-
cause the dealer didn't know how to correctly
order the car.

Thanks
