Just as the title states.

I checked mine last night and they need to be changed.

Where should I buy from?

Thanks

rockauto.com has decent prices. Search/google for a 5% coupon also.

Mann filters $10.75 each at Pelican. I know that if you call bavarian autosport, they will typically match the price. Just bought some stainless steel brake lines from bavauto.com - on sale cheap. I have been happy with both places in the past.

...I'm wondering which is best - filter capability & air flow - Hengst / Mann / Mahle ...?
+1

I have the Mann and have always used them, but I'm wondering the same thing.

I have heard bad things about the K&N, but what about other "performace" filters like AFe or green? These filters don't use oil, so they should be ok?

My understanding is that the airflow restriction on any of the above is so low as to not make any difference. With dual air intakes on the M5, for a stock engine (ie, without headers etc.) there is more than enough air for peak performance.

I'll add Tischer BMW (getbmwparts.com) to this thread. Mann engine air filters 13721736675 at under $20 ea.

While this is not the cheapest, I went with them because:
1. guy named Evan there offers incredible customer service.
2. they matched Pelican's all-in pricing.
3. it's a BMW dealership with a BMW invoice (2yr parts warranty).
4. they're close enough that as a first time buyer I could do a face to face if need be.
