My racing activities (or more accurately, my CRASHING activities) mean I need to find some cash to repair my race car.

One option I've got to seriously consider is selling the M5.

I hate these kind of threads, but what do you guys reckon it's worth?

1994 model, 6 speed, big brakes, 18" wheels. 68,000 miles with full BMW history to 51,000, then specialist history thereafter.

Avus blue - in great condition (usual stone chips to front) - MINT inside.

Just about to stick new front disks/pads and rear pads on - this will be done before the sale.

I'd be sorry to see her go, but it may be my only option, other than saving up for 12 months to repair my racer.........

I know how you feel Rob. My M5 went so I could finish my race car off. :crying:

For what it's worth I'd say your M5 is one of the cleanest examples I've ever seen. It's also a very desirable spec/colour.

I reckon £8 - £8.5k?

Your thinking price-wise is similar to mine.

It's GOTTA be worth that to SOMEONE!

Anyway - currently looking into whether I can raise the cash elsewhere.....but I'm not too hopeful!! :crying2:

Rob, sorry to hear your considering selling your car. I remember the original ad in Autotrader and would love to be able to offer a new home but cash situation can't stretch at the moment. Plus I'd need to sell my 92' 3.8 first and I don't really want to think how much I could get for it given current prices. I suggest you buy a rotax max or 125 Kart and see out the rest of the season at your local Kart circuit !. Unless you fancy an older car and some cash.

I desperately DON'T want to sell it - it will be an absolute last resort if i do......

Part of what's driving this is the fact that I've found an ideal donor car (an unfinished project) which I could buy and then bung the good stuff off my car onto it.........

So, I can either sell the M5 and buy it or sit it out until I've saved up enough to buy a donor car or repair mine..................

I hear organs are fetching good prices on ebay at the moment. Maybe that's a better solution...

It just sounds a shame to sell, what I hear to be a real mint example to get a few grand.

OK guys - you've convinced me! (It wasn't too hard though was it!?)

Having just changed the front disks myself, I've actually enjoyed working on a car! Nothing siezed - everything came off dead easy!

Having also stripped down my mangled race car, I'm hopeful of being able to repair it, rather than do the whole chassis or buy a donor car.......

I'll keep the M5 and just get saving............ :thumbsup:
