I am selling my 2001 Ford SVT Cobra Conv, and want to trade up to the M5. I am looking to buy a previously owned model, mainly because I don't want to sink $60+k into a car. Any recommendations on a certain model year?

Welcome to the board

There was a facelift with minor modifications from MY2001 onwards so try and get a 2001+ model if you can.

Just so you know I'd be stunned if any "new" m5 where still around...Only thing to do in that case would be get the E60 plus new the car was 75k...dont' forget too that the m6 is coming out.

I say go 03 most reliable and had all the latest stuff. Course that would still cost prob 64k. so to get under 60k you gonna have to go older 00,01

2003 M5 with 15k miles should run $55k +/-.... maybe 58, Be patient. Shop diligently.

Add 5-7k for dealer participation.

And as Jayson points out- they are all used. A new one will be 70k+ and the last one I saw was in August.
