My main reason for getting the Shark Injector was to clear the SAI carbon code. When I install the software the until stops half way through and blinks a code that I have a modified ECU.
Has anyone been able to flash their car back to stock? Is it difficult?
Or, should I just sell the Shark Injector and address the carbon buildup?
Thanks

I had mine cleared first at the dealership

And funny story :

I’m french and of course have a pretty strong accent

First I went to this bosh dinan specialist in va that actually didn’t clear the software and didn’t want to hear anything about it afterwards
Then
I went to BMW STERLING and ask them to remove the Dinan software
So the guy ask me if I wanted a loaner car and will call me with the estimate (I told them it was not necessary because I knew that it needed to be done to install the shark injector )
So next day I had no news so I called them the second day the car was there and they let me know that the person that deal with Dinan stuff called out sick
(My wife always complain on how much money I waste on my car it’s only the tip of the iceberg)
They finally called me 4 days later as I am driving with my wife next to me
The guy just drop the price at $8500

I really thought that my wife was gonna slap me in the face at that moment

They understood that I wanted to remove every single Dinan upgrade on the car to set it back to original
But long story short that was only $150-180
And took couple hours to do and was finally able to install the shark injector
But for a full week I was driving a new 535i I believe. It was very nice and full of gadgets. But happy to get back to the beast after all

my car also had an unknown software load when I tried to install my shark tune a few years ago, I also went to the dealer and for a little over $100 they flashed it back to latest factory load. unforeseen expense, but all worked fine after that.

When I bought my e39 M5 it came with a shark injector in the glove box.
How can I tell if it has been flashed to my car or if it has not?

You're saying you can't get the tune to load?

You can also contact Turner motorsport to figure out exactly which model shark injector you have. Maybe it's incompatible for your car.

Just an update. Drove 70 miles round trip to Santa Barbara to have the dealership flash my ECU back to stock. It was only $125. Super fun twisty road drive.
The ironic thing is that my car did not throw a code the whole time, go figure. It use to throw the code 2 minutes after start up.
I did just replace the oil separator hoses. It would be funny if that is what fixed the car.
Now I can install the Shark Injector.

Sat in the new M5 and checked out 2 911 gt3 rs All exceptionally Rad cars.

Sadly I couldn't smog it today, tech said that I need to drive it at least 150 miles to set the monitors. Crazy

Drove up to 150 miles today and the car still was not ready for smog. I have not done the shark injector because I don't want to reset the ECU. No SAI light yet (knock on wood).
I am burning up the $4.50 premium. I will check back with the smog station after 200 miles. California is such a pain for cars after 1975.
My racerboy front spitter creation hits on just about everything. Not sure if it is going to last much longer.
A picture from my milage runs.....
