I've had my 2001 M5 for a couple days now and have a question regarding the lighting. I've seen a few M5's that have angel eyes that seem to be a different color than mine. The rings in the headlights seem to give off a yellowish glow while I've seen some that are almost purple. What do I have to do to get this look?

Clutch - I need a new clutch. Stick with OEM or get an aftermarket? Some guy on ebay is selling brand new OEM M5 clutches for 289.99. Any reccomendations are greatly appreciated.

Any other mods that are good bang for the buck? I just bought a tubi exhaust that is on its way and im quite excited about that.

Thanks again,

Jason

Welcome to the board :byee55amg

The blue angel eyes are replacement parts available from companies like Umnitza.

Here you can see Tin's car (right) with CCFL rings and Dave(dmc)'s car (left) with Umnitza rings fitted:

If you take out the 5 or 10 watt bayonnet bulb, I do not remember which wattage it is, you could always just replace the bulb with a different color or slightly increase the wattage for a more pronounced angel eye effect. If you make them too close to the same color as the HIDs they won'y stand out with the low beams on though.

Jason,
I did a search on this site and there are quite a few posts about aftermarket and OEM clutches. Here are a few:

And here's one on the break in period for your new clutch!

I had my clutch replaced at 17K miles with an OEM clutch (under warranty) and now have over 46K miles with no problems. It looks like you have quite a few clutch options--maybe too many :haha: Good luck with your decision!

But don't go too high wattage. I've seen a 20watt melt the bulb holder. Tin has an awesome writeup on how he did his install. I might tackle it as I have an extra set (brand new) lens covers for 01+ assemblies. My only issue with his install is how the CCFL will react to below 0 temps..
