Having owned a 2001 Lemans Blue E39 M5 back in 2000 I made full circle and just recently picked up another M5 from a dealer in VA.

The car is a clean 2003 M5 titanium silver with 2 tone grey and black interior with 63k miles. I ended up paying $21,000 for the car and had BMW of Sterling do a PPI inspection and it seems just usual stuff like trailing arms, wipers, bushings had to be replaced.

The one thing I did notice that was not on dealer report was:

1. The dash seems to have mission pixels in mileage portion. How do I get this fixed?
2. Wheels seem to refinished and is NOT shadow chrome and a terrible bright silver and I will need to have someone refinish all 4 of them.

The car is being shipped straight to my mechanic shop to get all fluids done and get the car 100% up to date as I can obviously get a much better rate than a BMW dealer.

So glad to be back in this beast as I have driven and owned the last gen BMW's like E60 M5, E92 M3, F12 M6, F10 M5 and I have to say I really missed the raw driving character and exterior design of the classic BMW era's. The only car where I felt like BMW got it 100% right was the 1M coupe that I had for a year which truly reminded me of the old school BMW days.

I must say though the 2015 M4 put BMW back in the game as it has tremendous torque and is so much fun to drive around the streets not just on the track as the torque kicks in so early.

Here is list from the PPI report from BMW of Sterling:

Welcome back. I once taught about the E92 M3, but decided to stay put. E39 for life.
I may get flamed for this but the E92 M3 was one of the most disappointing M3's for me.

Loved my E46 M3 but if I were to pick one I would pick E39 M5 due to the amazing low end torque and future collectible value of this car in 8-10 years.

Welcome back and nice purchase.

I cant help you with the wheels but for the pixels I would recommend Jake aka Dr. Bimmer. You can see his posting for pixle repair in the group buy section.

This is his website. PIXEL REPAIR NW - Your BMW pixel repair specialist - Home

He has fixed my display along with many other board members on here and his work and communication is outstanding.

Nice looking car. Congrats!! I bought a brand new E46 M3 back in 2004, sold it and last year bought an E39 M5. I love the car, still looks great and is a beast. You got a really great deal too.

Yeah I agree I think market value oaf car is more like $28k-$30k so I quickly made a cash offer and snatched it.

I really liked the fact that it was a 2003 model year despite wanting a Lemans Blue or White one.

yes - you got a complete steal on a 2003 with that mileage! Congrats and welcome back to the fold. I had a similar story going away for 8 years and owning a few Corvette's, a CTSV and an Audi S4 and then looked really hard at the E60 M5 and E90 M3 before deciding that a low miles '03 M5 was just the right fit for me. And I'm still thrilled with the car - I've had it 2.5 years now and logged 30K+ miles on it and still love it! And I have serious car ADD, sounds like you do too! But the M5 is holding my attentions quite well - especially considering it is after-all a 10+ year old car at this point! And I did manage to add a vette to the stable along the way too, so now I don't have to choose between the two!! :hihihi:

I am thinking of holding onto this one for 8-10 years as I see prices climbing up this being the benchmark performance sedan of it's time and it's classic timeless design.

Only way I would sell her is if I got an amazing offer that I could not walk away from.

Going to try and keep mileage under 5k miles a year if I can since I have a few other cars to rotate around.

Btw enthusiast auto has a 2003 silver M5 with 16k miles being offered for $58,000. Prices are going to be climbing up 10-15% per year IMHO.

congrats on the purchase but you got extorted for the repairs on your rear diff.

That was only PPI inspection I did not do anything at the dealer.

Car is going straight to my Indy shop and parts and labor will be cut by half :)

I looked at this car briefly online as it was local to me, but I am holding out for a 2003 Titanium Silver/Black Sport Interior with all options. The only option I believe your car is missing is PDC (Park Distance Control). I thought it had the 2 m-audio subs in the trunk (may be recalling another car I looked at) - so you can check that once it arrives. Cars with sport interior like yours did not get the leather dash option, but at the same time, those with the executive interior did not have the option for rear shades.

Good Job on the purchase, hope to be joining the board here soon with one as well.
Happy Motoring,
Chad.

PS: If you want to refinish your wheels back to shadow chrome, check out Prince Wheels in NC. There is a recent thread on them as well.
