No. The car is a replica. As posted on another board, the car resides in Newport Beach, California:
Before: Euro 528i 1982 Lapis Blue original paint with black seats and blue carpet, no heat, no air, goofy wheels, "IS" rear spoiler, Hartge front. The good: 750il front brakes, 3:73 lsd, steel braided brake lines, short shift kit, and although it had tons of dents, excellent paint!
After: 3.5 dirty motor conversion-Courtesey of Autobahn!, Alpina spoilers, wheel, shift knob, gauges, E39 sport wheels, Flofit seats, new tint, new rugs, etc. Very fun and tossable daily 5er.
hi andy, yep sure no probs, my car is a Sytner build, number 5-355, and is finished in henna red. After looking back through the service history it had done 75,000 miles in 1990, and has only done around 112,000 now, so less than 40k miles in the last 15 years! I bought the car 4 years ago from a specialist exotic car dealer i was doing web work for at the time for 5k (trade price) The car had been in storage for 8 years before that. Someone removed the rear alpina badge from the car before i bought it, so it just has b9 3.5 on the boot. Inside It is finished in the traditional alpina sports cloth (black with green/blue stripe). When i bought the car, 2 of the wheels were buckled, which was unfortunate, and at the moment i have 2 original wheels on one side, and 2 new alpina's on the other.. ive heard you can no longer get the originals? Also i am looking for some stripes to fit onto the car, does anyone know which colour stripes would have been applied to a henna red B9? I will try and get some pictures up in the next week or so..
Well im not sure what more i can say, i have taken the car to le mans a few times, and before the french police got wise to the cannonball run style race from cherbourg to le mans have had quite a few good drives against other cars, including beating a 1980 porsche 911 driven by a good friend a few years ago.. he wasnt happy
Really Kees!? Thats very interesting, thanks for telling me that! I wish they had not removed them.. Do Alpina still sell the stripes to owners who can prove they own an alpina or is it a case of getting lucky through ebay for the stripes? PS ive uploaded a couple of pics of my car - the quality is dreadful im afraid as im using an ancient scanner at the moment.
KSK the US Alpina Distributor just came back with a email to me with Alpina DE having stock of the Deko kits for a heart attack dollar amount of $715.00 us dollars - It was $695.00 last week....unbelieveable.......
thanks for all your kind remarks about my car kees and andy - i think they look nice with no deko aswell in certain colours, red is one of them, but i would just like to make mine a bit more period specific etc.. anyway youve all given me some places to start looking for the Deko! $715 sounds alot of money though!
