Talking with B3Richie Yesterday, we tried to figure out the production numbers for the B8 by model. I know total numbers is 221.

Can anyone confirm my understanding.

Convertibles: 23
Touring: 27
Coupe: 81
Saloon: 90

Also, why is the B8 "only" rated at 333bhp when the same engine in the B10 produces 350bhp? And what can be done to extract the extra bhp?

Not quite right...

Convertibles: 23
Touring: 27
Coupe: 78
Saloon: 93

The space within the engine compartment of the E36 is very tight, therefore the exhaust manifolds are more restrictive. If you do a search here...some of the German members have looked at getting a special manifold handmade, but that proved not to be very cost-effective.

I'm a genius - I told you it must be the exhaust manifolds...

Perhaps you could cut some holes in the bonnet and have some periscope exhausts a la JPM!
