Too bad you have to pay VAT since it is outside the EU :(
Import duties can be avoided by a stamped EUR1 document. This declares that the product has been manufactured within the EU and as such no import duties have to be paid.

VAT is different, but one can import it in a low VAT country like for instance Luxembourg. Another solution is to declare a lower export value on the export papers. I don't think the trade value is that high and that between 5k and 8k Euro can be defended for the customs.
