The driver was obviously impressed by the speed of the car, but its NO WAY in h... that the B5 or ANY other will catch a 190 mph traveling car within 10 sec just when considering they are just cruising into the autobahn and have just started to accelerate when the other car are passing. That makes the story sound plain stupide.

To catch the passing car would take a loooong time.

Agreed - still, how many Americans have ever experienced such speeds on the public highway?

There were a couple of other silly mistakes in the article, also - e.g. cross-drilled brakes, talking about a supercharger on the 6.5l (!) Mercedes V12 - methinks he means the 5.4l V8... He also manages to imply that you can have a B5 in any colour you like, as long as it's Alpina Blue!

Not a great example of automotive journalism.

Nope...but then again most automotive journalism nowadays is drivel.

Good to see that an American magazine still manages to track new European car releases - even if they are not available for retail in the USA.
