About 4 months ago I smelled something that reminded me of a audio amplifier dying. But the audio seemed okay.
Today the audio seemed like the sound was projecting through a thick blanket.

Question: could it have been the audio amp frying? and now it sounds like the amp is not able to feed all of the speakers. I hear lots of bass and some mids but the highs are definitely muted. It is kinda of painful to listen to music at a medium level.

Is this possible? And where are the parts of the system?

IMO many amps will fry a channel and not the entire amp. Check through the audio settings whether it is right, left, front or rear.

Sounds like you only have subs working. If you have the logic 7 audio I believe the subs have their own amp.

For the mid/high frequency audio you may have lost a different amp.

Could be a single channel but more likely, if it's the power supply frying all channels would be gone.

Quick correction, the Logic 7 amp is just one big ole' amp in the back, 6 channels + 1 center.
