The videos look great. Too bad the S3 couldn't improve on the first pass. A new clutch and a line lock/roll control will do wonders!!!!!! Thanks for a great time and see you on the 29th!

Awesome videos, Ray!!! And great driving, Harry!

So Harry, how does it feel when you go back to drive your non-S3 ///M5?

Daaayum!! That is too cool Ray! Great video!

Harry, great first pass. Looks like she hooked up nicely!

I was really looking forward to seeing how the S3 performed this week. Ray, she looks/sounds very well dialed in. Pulling like a monster at the top end!

Thanks for pulling this together guys! Ray, keep us posted on your next outing!

Guys....

To all you guys - this is fun to watch. 'Makes me think of reconsidering my 100% focus on road race tracking of the Porsche.

To Ray - man, you're totally dedicated to getting your car "dialed in" for max performance. Obvious substantial improvement with each time out. CONGRATS!! BTW, 'just curious, did you have the PSI dialed up on the S/C'r??

To Harry - once again, great driving, with a weakened clutch and all. 'Kind of nice to see the "old and outdated", manny trannied/clutched E39 M5 reign supreme.

To "Boner" - fantastic 1st outting!! 'Glad I met you some weeks ago. You're a "car guy" and I can root for you!

To all of E60/63 N.E. crew - so which one of you will get NOS pkg or other "big mod" to keep up with the S3?? j/k - 'couldn't resist.:hihihi:

Boner,

You surprised a lot of people with your driving and with the Silver Bullet's performance. And I'll bet probably the most surprised of all was you!
:hihi:

Congratulations, well done!

Thanks Ray. Looking forward to our next outing. Now that the S3 has a 'bullet-proof' clutch, I'm eager to see it go sub 11.5:M5launch:. E-town or Island next?

And Dan, thank you too. You really should take that TT to the strip. It's a whole lotta fun:cheers:

Ed,

I'll wait until Spring is really here before I make another outing to the drags. I'm
gonna rest on my laurels for now.:hihi: The cold and wind do a number on this old guy. My thinking is that we should give Island a try for our next trip to the drags. I'm hoping it will be less crowded 'cause we've been spoiled by the private rental experience.

The new clutch is in a word - "incredible." After driving it now for >100 miles it still surprises me with the way the S3 just leaps forward when it engages. That, coupled with what we saw when we took the old S3 clutch out has me thinking that we were having more slippage than we realized. I'm using an UUC 8 puck Kevlar clutch/light weight flywheel combination. It's almost impossible to find on the UUC website but go to www.UUCmotorwerks.com and click on 'SHOP ONLINE' and then SEARCH for 'LWFS62' you will see the flywheel/clutch assembly but without the kevlar clutch.

I also need to figure out what is causing a ragged idle and low rpm misfiring since we put the light weight flywheel/clutch assembly in:dunno: . It clears when full throttle is applied. Should show up on a code reader which will be checked next week. May be a sensor positioning issue has been suggested. Need to talk to Mike at MWW.

It sounds like a software issue since there is less reciprocating mass and the idle is probably slightly higher. If you apply the parking brake and slowly let the clutch grab but not totally engage, does the car stall or does the idle try to pick up?

Dunno, we'll have to give it a try.

Thanks for the tip on raising the idle to compensate for the LWF. It seems to be a bit more complicated than that. Gonna check it out tomorrow with a Peake reader.

I assume your car already has it's idle speed higher than normal spec due to being an S3 car...

I agree that it's more likely something else... Hope it gets sorted out soon.
