I'm fed up with paying £15 or so for TWS (BMW buys it in from Castrol at around £5). Any ideas where I can get a good deal?

Do you need TWS or will the current M5 recommendation of Castrol RS 0W40 do?

I just bought three 4 litre tubs from Halfords at 17.50 a pop, half price. Opie oils seem cheap too but not that cheap.

Not sure about alternative oils. New to my M5 - only had it a couple of months. Also worried that it may effect my BMwarranty if I use a non-standard oil.

Mine's in getting an inspection 1 as we speak and I supplied my own Castrol RS 0W40 to which the guy behind the service counter said "spot on".

Apparently Mobil 1 is another (approved) alternative.

this has been a very touchy matter for some.. but the general consensus is cars before MY2001 its better to stick to bmw's recommened 10w60 Castrol TWS, and cars after 2001, its better to get Castrol TWS 5w60...

He's a link from fellow board member Mohan, on getting cheaper oil.. clickyclicky for oil
