I'm still struggling to install my homelink remote into my 2002 euro spec car (http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=116857). I have looked everywhere above the headliner and it really looks as if there are no wires to connect it to.

However before I can really get a good look around, I have to remove this item... Anyone any idea what it is for? I haven't seen it before in any other installation guides. It sits right above the headliner which has the sunroof switch/mic in it.

Cheers,
Faraz

It's a motor of some sort. Does your moonroof still work? :)

I am pretty sure it's the moon rood motor. If you look in your manual there will be a page talking about how to close the moon roof if your motor fails by putting in an allen wrench and turning it manually. I believe that is your moon roof motor :)
