I am currently awaiting delivery of my Le Mans blue M5 (mid-April). I was wondering if anybody has yet taken delivery of one and if so whats the colour like ???? I have seen several photo's on various boards, but photo's can be very deceiving.

David, did you get your Lemans Blue M5 yet? No one at BMW North America appears to know what the color looks like but it replaces Avus Blue, it is supposed to be darker. My M5 is being built the end of May. Right now it will be Carbon Schwartz but I still have time to change it to Lemans Blue. This weekend is the N.Y. Auto show, maybe someone there will know. As a BMWCCA member BMWNA puts on a special presentation for us 2 hours before the show opens to the public with BMW representatives present. I wish you fun with the M5. I just can't bring myself to order the car color unseen. Gary.

how do you become a BMWCCA member and what does it mean. i would love to go to a 2 hour briefing before the Auto Show. My Le Man's blue should be here next week. Also they have a picture of it on their website. I saw a picture of an M5 in a blue in a magazine and it did not appear to be Avus. I think the Leman's is going to be lighter than the Avus. Then again i just went to the website and it looks pretty dark. I don't know, i guess time will tell.

I called BMW USA Customer Service when I was trying to decide whether to order Anthracite or LeMans Blue. Their description of the LeMans Blue was a slightly darker and more "purplish" hue as compared to the Avus Blue.

I have heard that LeMans blue just looks much closer to the LeMans blue interior than Avus blue, so it is darker with more of a purplish hue. I still have no idea why BMW didn't just come out with LeMans blue at first, but I heard some rumor that they had trouble with the paint finish, so they stuck with Avus temporarily until they could perfect LeMans, but your guess is as good as mine. If you can get a pic of the LeMans interior, you should be able to judge how the exterior will look.

Gary,
Sorry for delay in responding to your post. I collected my Le Mans Blue car on Monday. The colour is better than I thought! and personally I prefer it to Avus Blue. The colour is the same as the Blue M5 in the UK brochure, as someone else already said, Le Mans Blue was going to be the colour originally used, but I understand they had problems getting consistant batches. The colour is similar to the Blue they use on the Lexus IS200.
