Hello All,
Been perusing this board for some time before I pulled the trigger. Many thanks to all for your infinite wisdom. I really felt prepared once I found the right car and began negotiations...
Anyway, I took delivery about 2 weeks ago. She is a 2001 Titanium silver, all black (lux) interior, has Dinan Stage 2 suspension and a "Billy Boat" tri- flow exhaust. Anyone ever heard of "Billy Boat" exhausts for BMW's? Apparently he started out as a 911 tuner and has broadened his scope of applications. She's got 24,800 on the clock and a new set of Goodyear F1's.
The day after I took delivery the dreaded SES light came on and has not gone off. Unfortunately, I took delivery about 2 weeks after the factory warranty expired. This is not a CPO car but seems like it was well cared for (I found the previous owner and called him - no major problems, or SES lights, that he could remember. He also owns an M coupe for what it's worth. Had to trade the M5 for an Infiniti SUV for his wife.) I'm going to take it to my local specialist and have them read the codes. I have a feeling that it's a CPS since she runs a little rough when I first turn her over. Rough meaning the engine drones high, then low, then high, then low, etc. for about 30 secs. after I turn the key. Not diesel-like at all.
Any help guessing what the problem may be will be appreciated. Thanks again for sharing all your knowledge.
Jon
