I am going to get a full project thread together over the next few days. This is just a start and i will add pictures in as i get time.

December 2009 - Time for a change from the 530D, wanted more poke so the M5 was the choice.
After looking about for a good month and seeing almost every car in my budget and being disappointed one way or another, M5 XDW was posted in Piston heads. Monster spec including double glazing, DSP, NAV, TV, two tone leather, full extended leather, PS2 with Pioneer Headrest screens, wireless headphones and much more.

The car had also been fitted with the Facelift grey clocks and original BMW facelift front and rear lights which just added to the car IMO.

Went to look at the car and noticed a few things wrong but overall a good buy considering the price I paid. 128k on the clock, Full BMW history and M5 Board member owned for a LONG time.

Got the car in the first big snow storm from north London which was an event in itself. Overall very pleased.

After 1 month of owner ship I was driving down the M20 in Jan '10 and i hit a massive pot hole destroying 2 wheels in the process - to this day i am still fighting the Highways for damages!

Due to a lack of M5 wheels i decided to head off to the land of BBS - Some nice 19" staggered BBS CH's were ordered with P zero tyres and promptly fitted

Wheels on the car outside

Next I turned my attention to the key marks and dings in the car that she was wearing when i bought her so it was off to the body shop to get them all repaired - Some of the results

At this time I also swapped out the standard panel filters for some BMC high flow units and had some straight pipes installed so i could hear the V8

From the back

From underneath

Next on the agenda was a Hamann front splitter. I always felt the car was missing something at the front so it was fitted - Time for some new pics

The car was run like for this for a while as i sold off a few other cars to get some cash back.

Replaced 4:3 screen with a 16:9 unit - Pics to come

Install E60 SSK - cheap upgrade, WELL worth doing

Fited face lift M5 sterring wheel - Much nicer feel, and really updated the inside

6k LED angle eye bulbs to get rid of the orange/yellow glow

Installed MK4 Sat Nav unit with 2011 Maps

Installing BMW TCU Bluetooth to replace BMW GSM Phone (All parts ordered, just awaiting delivery)

Today i have finally bought my new Rota's for my BBK setup

I bagged a Pair of AP Racing 356mm x32mm Floating Rota's off egay for just over £100

Flippin bargain if I do say so my self

These will go nicely with my 6 Piston Wilwood calipers i saved off my old Skyline GTR

I have a spare M5 front hub assembly so it will be off to the engineering shop for a custom Bell and Caliper bracket when they arrive.

if all goes to plan they will be on for the RAF track day, think i will need them to stop time after time after that long straight

UPDATE TODAY:

After the long saga of the "pot hole" and my wheels i finally have a usable set of original BMW OEM wheels.

Got a steal on a replacement front with tyre and my local wheel referb specialist has taken care of the rear. Only had a 20% chance of repair and they called today saying its all done!

Now I have some track wheels if the BBK fits under them.

If they don't I have winter wheels with the STD brakes

Update today

Postman delivered the Rota's. They are slightly large to say the least 14"

Some pics with a caliper, as its worth a 1000 words

To give an idea on the rota size this is placed on top of a STD M5 18" wheel

Rob i am allowing about £80-120 a side for the bell and bracket

Wow those cracked rims are intense!! Was there more damage to the car? I've never seen that before...
Looking good Andy. Very good.

I'm particularly intersted in the BBK and wheels. Care to share how much and where from regarding the wheels, and any info regarding the BBK would be appreciated mate

Thanks

Thanks for the comments guys

Wheels came from Rimstyle (UK BBS Distributor) Rimstyle Autodesign Ltd / Styling and Tuning Specialists They start at about 2.4k with tyres

I bought a BBK for my old R32 GTR Skyline and when i sold the car kept the brakes. The callipers can be purchased off Rally Design, I then waited for a bargain on some Rota's as i wasnt in a hurry and these AP ones turned up on ebay. I wanted a bigger disk than i ran on the GTR so waited. Although i could have used the original 340mm Disk.

I have had a local machine shop make up the calliper bracket to suit and a Bell. The whole thing will owe me no more then £800 when done and i will have a set of Bells and Rota's for a Skyline to sell on
Great Story so far Andy !!

Looks great, doesn't show its 133k+ miles. Please can you let me know which body shop you used, and whether you'd recommend them. Thanks
