I have Alpina B12 5.0 (-90) which needs some repaint. The color of the car is Alpina blau. Does anyone know the color code for this Alpina color? I have found one Alpina blau from 1994 BMW color chart, but i'm not sure if it's the same color.
how are they guarded kees, as far as i know all alpina colours can be mixed by a proffesional body shop as they have colour schemes and what and how much mixture to use this i have seen for myselfkees said:If you contact Alpina with the chassis number of your car they should be able to help you. The exact paint mixture for the Alpina-specific colors is well guarded by Alpina.
i understand what you are saying but the paint codes come from bmw charts also mix charts from the people like standox who do the original paint for bmw, the chart what i saw has all the alpina paint codes and how to get the right mixture, so if alpina are guarding it then something is wrong because bmw and standox have a full listingkees said:You can determine the colors to mix by analyzing the paint on the car. That's typically how it's done to match the faded paint on cars once they are more than a few years old. However mixing up touch-up paint by 3rd parties - which is supported by regular car manufacturers is not done by Alpina. You must go through Alpina for this.
One of the ways Alpina guards their colors is that it is not allowed to order a regular BMW in Alpinablue or Alpinagreen at BMW Individual.
thats what i was trying to say, what i wanted to know was why kees thinks they are guarded as the codes are freely available, theres no one that i know that buys paint from alpina even in germany everyone mixes their own, thanks sebringSebring NL said:Roj, Kees
I can get the Alpina paint mixture codes in a heartbeat. Nothing special.
as far as im aware bmw uses paint from standox and has done for yearskees said:Did Standox reverse-engineer the BMW and Alpina paints or do they supply the factory?
it came before 1994 and there ar two different shades, one is early one and one at a later dateapbails said:Thanks for the link! The color of my '90 B10 BT is "Dunkelsaphirblau" Alpina Nr. 07 59 016. Looking into the Standox site, it seems "Alpina Blue" may not have come along until 1994. The formulas are similar. I'm sticking with the Dunkelsaphirblau, should be the correct color for the car.
