Hi all, hoping you would be able to point me in the right direction on a few things.

After some research on the engine rebuild carried out in 2003 (its done under 10k since) i have found out a few things. It was done because the block cracked and so it had a new block, pistons and conrods. Alpina pistons could not be sourced for whatever reason and so standard 535i rods and pistons were used, retaining the original Alpina crank and head/camshaft. I am hoping to source some pistons to raise the comp ratio a little bit.

Which pistons/manufacturer would you recommend? (Alpina want £250 plus vat per piston..)

I could go with an e28 m30 set or a complete aftermarket conrod/piston setup.

My main question is what would be best suited to the Alpina head as this was shaped for the Alpina pistons I believe?

Also, are the current standard pistons likely to be causing any issues? It runs very well once warm (60 in under 7 secs) but can be a little lumpy till warm.

I am having a 6 branch stainless manifold and exhaust fitted this summer too.

Many thanks
