Anyone out there that can help and provide input?

How about is there someone who was / is in the same boat as I am in terms of car and mileage?

Also, for those of you who have that "everything is covered" exclusionary warranty, what company do you have?

From doing online searches on the short list of companies I mentioned above, seems to be that I keep ending up on "fishy" websites / links (which all also have horrible google reviews) ...

Anyone care to share the companies' actual websites by mentioning links?
I ask because I was only able to submit ONE inquiry - I just sent basic information to EasyCare for a quote to be sent back, while other websites that I have encountered only show "why choose xxx Company, what is covered, online brochures," etc. on their websites. There are no links to submit a quote online nor phone numbers to call that I noticed. There only is a "Contact Us" page that asks for Your Name, Type of Inquiry (fill in the blank, no list to choose from), Your e-mail address, and a "Comments/Questions" section. Seems too basic / strange if you ask me.

I really want someone to help out in my first post above (too much on my mind right now)

What I am basically doing is compiling a list of those reputable warranty companies that covers all, if not most, things that I mentioned in my previous post above. This way, I have a list so that I can start contacting them to make a selection from quotes and then purchase.



I just cancelled my warranty with Carchex. Trying to get that done was a act of Congress. I took the money that the warranty cost and put it towards bearings, vanos and bushings.... Not going go waste my money playing with fire.....

Hey lexustbs, why did you cancel your warranty with carchex (if you do not mind us knowing the cause for termination, and if you paid it all at once or pay plan. i.e.: denied claims, long turnaround times, just because x ?, etc.)?

Just wanted to give an update on my Exp. I have a 2007 M6 convert with 76k miles. Its was pretty tough chasing down a warranty for the right price. I called all of the BMW dealers in Southern CA. I think there are about 10 of them. Half of them told me, "you don't want to know the cost because its going to be around 10k for 2 years" There were couple of dealers that actually got back to me, one was Shelly BMW, they offered me Fidelity Platinum 2 yrs 24k for around 8k. Thats all they could offer me, I was looking for at least 3/36, since I was going to sell the car in two years and I wanted to have some warranty left on it for the new buyers peace and mind. Finally I reached someone at Crevier BMW, Her name was Kristin, very nice and helpful person. They offered United Auto Care 3/36 preferred for under 3k, but I would have to bring the car in for inspection before they can sell me the warranty. I got the inspection done, and now I have coverage for my beast. Its not the top of the line warranty, but it covers pretty much everything, INCLUDING the SMG pump. I asked specifically and the SA told me yes it is covered. I have it in writing. So in the end I was able to get the warranty for the price of doing the rod bearings. She did tell me though, the car must have less than 80k to qualify for this program. YMMV depending on the year and mileage of your car. Happy Hunting!

This thread has not seen any activity for a while so I would like to add my recent positive experience with the USAA extended warranty. I bought a one-owner 2010 M6 convertible with 47,500 miles at the end of October. The car still had an extended maintenance plan and extended warranty (not transferrable), was obviously well maintained, and I reviewed the BMW service records. The broker also took the car to the local BMW dealership for inspection and one last service under the old maintenance plan. I felt pretty good about the car but decided to purchase the warranty after reviewing countless posts in the forums. I picked up the car in Texas and drove it to Maryland (that was a blast!).


I drove the car for a month and was feeling good about it until the ///M SMG gods decided to put a damper on my Thanksgiving week. While driving home from work, the reserve tank light and yellow “increased emissions” lit up simultaneously. There were no other symptoms or warnings so I drove home. After calling USAA (Assurant), I took the car into my local BMW shop. There were two small issues -- a bad O2 sensor (fault 27CA) and a faulty thermostat (fault 2B59). The big surprise was a 4FAO fault that was stored but no other codes. After following SIB’s 23-07-06 and 21-02-06 the tech determined that the flywheel and clutch components needed replacement. After inspecting the car and meeting with the tech/service advisor, USAA approved all the repairs except for a 1.5 hours of the labor. The parts replaced were: 02 sensor, thermostat, twin mass flywheel, SMG clutch set, throw out bearing, and bearing sleeve. The total cost was $5,500 and I paid $350 for the extra labor.


I was expecting the inspector to disapprove the clutch but they decided to replace it because of extra wear due to the flywheel and positioning issue. So a couple of warnings:


1. Get an extended warranty and don’t rely on the car being well maintained. The SMG is evil and will have failures regardless.
2. Make sure that the SA understands the policy exclusions and communicates clearly with the inspectors. If my SA would have said that the clutch was faulty, I bet that USAA would have denied the clutch replacement.


Bottom line is that I am pleased with USAA/Assurant and also the BMW SA. I paid $5,302 for a 4 yrs./48K miles warranty and it has already paid for itself. I highly recommend USAA or Assurant for that matter, if you need an extended warranty.

But I got in a ton of hot water with warranty company when prices were posted a while back.

Hey I am glad that it turned out well for you!
Update on my story is that I had the check engine light come one and had a small leak in the rear diff area, I was just passed the 1k mile probation thank god. They did send out an adjuster since it was so close to the 1k mile, I was over by 100 miles or so. But in the end they replaced a o2 sensor, new seals, over all it came out around $1200. I only had to pay $100 deduct. I am very very satisfied. Again, this is with Penske Auto group. United Auto Care.

Unfortunately I don't think you'll be able to get a warranty on a 11 year old M5 with almost 100k miles. The warranty companies all know how much of a pain the M5 can be. If you can find one definitely grab it, but I think chances are pretty low anyone would cover a 2006 at this point.

I've been calling companies like crazy this past week for quotes they're all either too good to be true or they don't cover so I decided that I'll just throw $5k in my savings and use that for repairs I mean worst case if i get a bad engine or someshit I'll just flood the car lol but my advice would be just to keep your own money for your own fix forget these warranty companies

Thought I'd throw my input in on USAA/Assurant Solutions!

I have a 2010 BMW M6 that I just purchased about a month ago and took delivery of a couple weeks after. Well, yesterday it threw a few codes and 'increased emissions' at me, so I took it down to Reno Rennsport (indy shop) today and they didn't hesitate to contact Assurant for me. 30 minutes later, Assurant approved the repair and hooked me up with a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk (lol) rental for 5 days free of charge. I paid nothing out of pocket period for this job.

The issue? Stuck open thermostat and two dead post cat O2 sensors. The indy is also replacing all the cooling hoses and seals while they're inside the vehicle for the thermostat. The warranty covered the labor (6 hours) for this job, but since hoses count as preventative maintenance items, I had to cover the parts. The thermostat and sensors were covered by the warranty. Overall, the entire job would have been well into the thousands out the door (will post invoice when repair is done), but I paid nothing out of pocket and will be getting my ///M back in a few days. Very happy with the experience and their customer service. One month down, 23 to go on my warranty and it has nearly paid for itself.

Edit: Assurant ripped the rental car right from under my feet before the shop even got the parts in for the repairs. So much for that deal!

I am purchasing my first BMW this week and it is a 2008 M5 64k miles, from a private seller. I have been going thru endless calls, online quotes and have only found one company called PENN WARRANTIES in Pennsylvania who will cover this car. The catch is they don't sell directly to the consumer, you need to buy thru a dealer who works with them.
I asked for the person to look up a dealer in my area but she said she has no way to do that. The reviews online are concerning from what i have seen.

I purchased “The Mechanic” from BMW of Alexandria when I purchased mine in 2012. I highly recommended this insurance!

The followings have been replaced/repaired with $100 deductible:
1. ABS module
2. EDC (module was running great and no symptom, but dealer ran test and found error code)
3. Alternator
4. Oil cooler
5. SMG (was running great and no symptom, but dealer ran test and found error code)
6. Thermostat
7. Coolant sensor
8. Coil packs
9. Side mirrors

Sorry to resurrect this thread, however ANYONE contemplating acquiring an e60 or ANY ///M for that matter should be reading this thread top, to, bottom. Gonna give a few of these companies a call later on this AM.

Hello all. I am writing to provide some feedback as it relates to Easy Care - VSC Gold.

Please see the following list of my recent history with this group below:
Car went into limp mode
Rolled into mechanic
Limp mode was due to coil pack going bad
While I was there I figured I would use this opportunity to remedy some of the other issues that I have been rolling with:
Intermittently stuck open Thermostat
Thigh support motor failure
"Crunchy" front right suspension
Intermittent alternator charge failure (there was a code in the ecu)
Leak coming from the SMG pump area

They approved the thermostat, seat motor, ignition coil, and end links.

Not the hydraulic SMG lines, leaking shocks, or alternator...you know, the expensive stuff you buy a 4.5K warranty for.

The shocks are still very much audibly crunchy which I assume is not an OEM feature.

That being said, the highlight of the experience was the following dialogue regarding the leaking hydraulic lines associated with the SMG pump:
"Your policy does not cover hoses..." - EC Rep
"BMW declares it as a line or pipe..." - ayhsmb81
"How does EasyCare define a hose..?" - ayhsmb81
"Its a piece of rubber with two pieces of metal at the end..." - EC Rep
"Where does it state that or do you have a reference document..?" - ayhsmb81
"Its in the dictionary..." - EC Rep
*ayhsmb81 Googles the definition of hose
"The dictionary states that a hose is a flexible tube conveying water, used especially for watering plants and in firefighting..." - ayhsmb81

Then she instantly hung-up on me.

All-in, I am a pretty fair and understanding guy but this was brutal.


Cliffs notes: Not a good experience.

I have 89k on my 2008 6MT and carchex warranty is set to expire at 103k. They are not willing to extend. Has others had luck recently getting warranty at high mileage ? If yes, which company and how much

Any one hear about the Concord Auto Protect ? They are the only ones that cover the V10 I found so far. They offer the exclusionary warranty if mileage is less than 100k. It is 3 years/35k for $5100.

Will warranty companies cover vehicles with accidents on their carfax?
I have a 2008 M5 with about 65K miles on it. I'm looking to replace the rod bearings, clutch, and flywheel soon which will cost me about the price of a 3-4 year extended warranty. Is this wishful thinking or is it as easy as it sounds? How does the warranty company decide whether they will cover the preventive measures I want to take?

I don't think an accident on the Carfax will make a difference if the car will pass a pre-warranty inspection since I was able to get a warranty (albeit 4 years ago and at 19,800 miles) and my car was involved in a minor accident that made Carfax before I purchased the car.

I have yet to hear of anyone that was persuasive enough to get a warranty company to proactively change the bearings. Someone might have based on a Blackstone report or something but I am not aware. Clutch and Flywheel would be wear items (at least on my warranty) so they typically won't do that.

If you have read through this thread, there isn't anything else I can tell you about which warranties to look for.

Purchased my E60 M5 that had a CarMax Max Care warranty that the previous owner purchased. Just got word today that they are covering rod bearing and engine mount swap. I had to authorize the shop to tear apart and if the RBs we're good I would be responsible for costs, however give Blackstone I wasn't terribly concerned with that.
