Carsten, where can you get the Harge export version in the US? I'm also thinking to change the exhaust but not for sound only, I want the full catback which I have not heard of...all that are available is not all the way from the cat...

Thanks

Anyone out there having a Hartge or AC Schnitzer exhaust system fitted to their M5? Apparently Schnitzer (made by Remus) is not adding very much to the sound, where as the Hartge export version, which goes all the way to the cat, should be very very loud according to one of the Hartge staff I spoke to. That is if you also get the y-shaped pipe that connects the silencers to the cat. This version can't pass the German Tüv.

All input wellcome also from people who have other exhaust systems fitted to their car.

Secondly i am planning to fit a lowering kit, either the Hartge springs or the Schnitzer sport suspension kit, so also here I would like your input.

Thks

Hi Carsten and Nille,

As you may know I have made a few changes on my car, Hartge 20" Kelleners exhaust, tuning + 56ps, suspension etc. Why don´t you make a small trip to Kullavik Sweden (just south of Gothenburg) so we can meet and you can see feel and listen yourselves? It will take you less then 3 hours drive. Maybe this coming sunday 20/8? I could also meet you half way.

I have also experience and information on Hartge and Schnitzer parts for M5 E39. Looking forward to your reply.

I've a Supersound exhaust installed by digit power in switzerland, and made by Dähler in Switzerland, which is an official partner of Hartge.
Louder and much nicer sound than the remus I've had before. Perfect quality, wider than the OEM but same design type. They're expensive, 1500 USD for both.
They do not pass the german or swiss sound certifications, but it's still much less loud than a Ferrari. No policeman could tell it's aftermarket, and with the remus yes and they were much more silent !

Hi Klas.

Thanks for the reply and your offer. Let's see if we can work something out for sunday 20/8. Every sunday at 19:30 there is a bmw club DK meeting at Langelinie kaj (Copenhagen cruise ship port). I'm sure that some of the other M5 owners + all the rest would die to see your M5. Would you like to come to Copenhagen in the afternoon and meet me, have a nice dinner and go to the meeting in the evening? Otherwise I would be happy to come to see you. If you prefer give me a call on +45 70 23 43 53 during work hours.

Hi there.

I called the local Hartge dealer and he's sure that Hartge is represented in the US. He has'nt got the dealerlist, so try www.hartge.de and ask them, the site has an english version too. If any problems, let me know, I can give them a call. FYI the list price in Germany is DEM 3.220,- + 16% VAT, that's about $ 1.500,- ex VAT.
