Sorry, I don't believe they will test every single car on a salt lake..max_m5 said:just to show the driver how fast his car went on the salt lakes...

Or getting snapshooted by one of those photo-bas**rd-traps, I bet they will wonder if their camera is alright... A saloon going 334... :7: :biggrin:zzzzMD said:Can the tires sustain that speed? Also, that would look pretty funny on the speeding citation......."Sir, were you driving a car or an aircraft?"!!:hihi:
In my old Porsche 996 tt you could choose 360 km/h (warning limiter PCM I). The high speed of the car was 307 km/h.max_m5 said:It seems BMW hid an "easter-egg" in the limiter of the I-Drive menu ... just to show the driver how fast his car went on the salt lakes...
go to the "Navigation" menu, call the function "Limit" and chose the speed.
let the speed scroll up ... 50 ... 100 ... 150 ... 200 ... 250 (the fastest speed you can SET) ... 300 ... 330 ... 331 ... 332 ... 333 ... 334 km/h - This is where the limiter stops...
and then you'll see this: :M5rev: :M5rev: :M5rev:
i am not very familiar with the iDrive in the recent BMWs. so how fast exactly can you set the limit on the normal 5series to be?Gustav said:Wow, I honestly think that is no coincident. Nice done BMW M!
Maximum is 260 km/h in my 530D, but what a difference those 74 km/h make!:M5launch:tifosi said:i am not very familiar with the iDrive in the recent BMWs. so how fast exactly can you set the limit on the normal 5series to be?
There was a program on a couple of years ago here in the UK (5th gear), they tested a TVR and proved that any car going over 178mph or so could not be caught by a GATSO speed camera.MortenDK said:Or getting snapshooted by one of those photo-bas**rd-traps, I bet they will wonder if their camera is alright... And then getting your ticket by mail. "You have been driving 334 km/h, +- 5 km/h. Please meet up at the nearest police station so we can check out your ride." :15:
Really? I thought the theoretical VMax for a GATSO was 300+mph?richhaywood said:There was a program on a couple of years ago here in the UK (5th gear), they tested a TVR and proved that any car going over 178mph or so could not be caught by a GATSO speed camera.
