Are these interchangable? I know the 3.8's use EDC but would a spring for a 3.6 car fit a 3.8 car with EDC shocks?

I've been looking at springs for my 6 speed car which is still on its EDC setup but i'd like to lower the front a touch and H&R list a spring for 3.6 and 3.8 cars

They also list a kit for 3.6 and 3.8 cars but without leveling suspension. So the rears won't work as SLS springs and non are usually an inch or two different in height!!

Just wondering about the fronts as you can buy just the fronts from H&R on german ebay . My EDC shocks are in good condition so i don't want to remove it and the SLS. Eibach don't list anything for 3.8 cars or 3.6 it seems looking on their website direct.

I'm sure many have been here before but thanks

Thanks Kal, here is what i think. 29579-1 is the number i want which is just listed as front springs and includes 3.8 cars aswell as tourings in this listing

2x H&R Tieferlegungsfedern VA BMW 5er E34 M5 Lim./Touring 30mm aus Satz 29579-1 | eBay

So i take it these work with EDC as its only a listing for the fronts. So no SLS or not things to worry about. My understanding has always been that the EDC cars had SLS also whether touring or saloon.

Also you can adjust the rear ride height on any SLS cars with the sensor than mounts to the rear anti roll bar

I tested site re compatibility on my 1990 3.6, plus the 1992 and 1995 3.8 - the site claims ok for all, so seems safe bet, hth.

thanks Keith, i will take pics Kal

I might have the option of getting my hands on a hartge setup. This is EDC delete but i'd keep all the stock parts anyhow. I've seen the car its on and its low!

Right i got round to fitting these today see what you think

So these are the pair i bought from Germany

As you can see the H&R spring is a little shorter and wound progressively - which i like myself from using them on E30's

Onto the money shots of before and after

Perfect if you ask me, its defo dropped the front a good 20-25mm as stated. I wouldn't want it lower myself as its a road car. After taking her out for a run i can't say it rides any harder at all. They ride quite hard a standard anyhow. It was wet so no camparison in terms of any slight handling changes yet

I think it sits spot on now, happy camper!!

Actually I have the EDC setup with the H&R springs since June last year. Put only 1200 kilometers on it though.
stance is indeed a tad lower then OEM but not too low. Just as I like it :)

I have so pictures for you! ;)

Love the way your car is sitting, i'm currently looking at the Bilstein kit with H&R springs from Turner motorsports. I was about to purchase until i noticed there's two different front H&R spring heights. On the kit from Turner it says front drop of .8'' but on the H&R springs if you purchase on their own it says 1.25'' drop.

Just wondering what H&R springs you have on yours. Thanks

Hi there friend, thanks for your kind comment. I like it too, wouldn’t want it lower.
I definately have the last set, so the loose springs pictured without the Bilstein shocks.
I have more pictures for you. Of course, these are paired with my regenerated EDC at Nagengast :)

Excellent thanks, part number 29579 has the 1.25'' height drop, thats the same i'm wanting.

Hopefully these will work fine in conjunction with the Bilstein B8 shocks.
Hi
I just bought also Bilstein B8 shocks. I am now running Koni sports that have worn out.
I also have H&R springs that is supposed to be in V8 530/540. In my opinion my car is not enough low from front, so I am planning to swich them to these M5 springs.

Please post picture when you are installed those springs.

I'm doing more research and my only worry is that the H&R springs for the M5 (Part no.29579, height drop 1.25'') are stated on the H&R site as only in conjunction with the SLS Suspension. So basically the Bilstein B8 kit for the M5 from Turner is using the spring kit for 535i 89-91, 530i/540i 93-95 (Part no.50413, height drop 0.8'') so the extra height drop i want on the front might not be possible with that kit and part no.29579's front springs are probably not compatible with the Bilstein B8 shocks on the Turner kit.

I might still buy the Turner Bilstein kit though and look at some front springs that are custom made for the extra height drop. Faulkner springs in the UK can custom make proper springs to any height and setup you want. This might be my only solution without going to coilovers and having to re-manufacture the hubs like ground control do.

Do you have pics of your current front ride height for reference also.

Hi

I am planning to change only the front springs. My current setup is really nice in back, so I will install mixed H&R springs.

Here is one picture

That is too high for my taste.
