I get the 16:9 Nav Screen is basically two decades old and won't be as nice as a modern one, but do all of them have the discoloration / uneven backlight that mine is showing here when new?

Hi,

By design no they don't, however, you've half answered your own question ! The OEM audio (and other electronics) are now around 17-24 years old and failures and deterioration is much more common. To keep the OEM audio functional, you'll need to keep each module working by repairing each of the multiple points of failure. The faulty backlight/pixel deterioration of the 16:9 monitor TFT panel is common and perhaps the priciest failure to resolve with the monitor module - other aspects are the ribbon cable, left or right side non responsive buttons, the flip down/up panel failures.

There's places that will exchange the TFT panel for a replacement panel and the other various failure points of all the audio modules. You'll also find the various upgrades to specific aspects of the OEM modules too, so there's potentially more expense for when you opt for those whilst the specific module is in for repair !

Cheers, Dennis!
