Just put together the specifications for my car and the cost is giving me nightmares :crying:

Here is what I have come up with so far:

E60 M5 (NB91) specifications for Ashok Arora
Net price in Euros

Base price 73,884.30

Exterior Colour: Blue Onyx Metallic (S11) ?
Interior: Cinnamon (Cannelle) leather extended (LK**) ?
Wooden interior trim – Poplar Natural (0200) ?

776 Headlining in Alcantara Anthracite (7063090?) 1206.61

320 Delete emblem 0.00

4MA Multifunction M seats with active backrest (includes 488) 1206.61

403 Glass sunroof 991.74
416 Sunblind for rear window (electric) & side screens 388.43
428 Warning triangle & first aid kit 148.76
508 PDC park distance control 743.80
524 Adaptive headlights (standard) 0.00
601 TV Function 859.50
609 Satellite Navigation Professional 2297.52
610 Head up display 1123.97
613 On-line package (mobile internet) ?
616 On-line platform technical preparation ?
620 Extended voice control 239.67
638 Armrest telephone 991.74
672 CD changer for 6 CD 396.69
677 HK Logic-7 HiFi system 1074.38
754 M rear spoiler (no cost option) 0.00
853 English handbooks

Totals 73,884.30 plus 11,669.42 (options) = 85,553.72 net price

Add v.a.t. (sales tax) in UK at 17.5%:

85,553.72 plus 14,971.90 (tax) = 100,525.62 EUROS ??????

AND.... this does not include the cost of the Individual package (approx 5k) or items 613 & 616 (approx 1k); then I have to pay for a UK speedo which shows mph&kph and then there's the aftermarket DVD system :confused3

why are you scared?

if net base price is around 74k and you put on it 11,5k options you will be soon at 100k incl. tax... so you are increasing your base price by just 15% with options, that is not very much imho. i know people who add to the bp 40% and more with optional equipment.

please dont misunderstand me, 100k is a lot, but 15% not... ;-)

Ashok,

Just be patient, in 12 months you can buy the car for two thirds that price - let someone else take the first years depreciation and all the inevitable de-bugging that will need fixing. In the meantime your E39 will be looking like better value than ever and there is every chance BMW will be offering a 6 speed manual gearbox by then as well!

Interesting thoughts Martin but I'm happy to live with the depreciation as I will keep the new car for around 3 years. Anyway, I'd never find that combination of colours & options used.

The cost just seems to add up so quickly - it's a lot more than I paid my well specced E39 :(

About Euro130,000 base price in Australia.

Well done Ashok Arora. May I ask how much extra for the Blue Onxy Metallic, which I presume is Individual? Thanks.

Yes, the Blue Onyx is an Individual colour. BMW Individual are promoting three different Individual Packages which include increasingly opulent levels of equipment. The packages range from around 3000 to 9000 Euros.

However, the choice of interior colours in all those packages does not include Cinnamon/Poplar Natur which is my first choice. I have asked my dealer to find out if Cinnamon leather and Poplar Natur wood will be available to order and what the cost will be. This information is not yet available.

The factory may say I can get Cinnamon but only in full Leather. I certainly don't want to fork out over 7000 Euros for full leather ouich

The worst case scenario is that I go with some of the package colours e.g. Caramel leather & Walnut Amarone wood trim (still decent).

Thanks. Can you briefly summarise the 3 different Individual pacakages, or refer me to a link? I'm actually getting the M6, but I want to have some ideas and what's available on the M5 will almost certainly be there for the 6 or slight variations of. Good that you've gone Individual with the Blue Onyx, I think the standard range is just so "plain Jane".

Here is some info on the Individual Packages. The exact package contents vary from country to country but here is a summary of what to expect:

PACKAGE 3 (priced around 3000 Euros):

(a) Exterior paint in Diamond, Sepia, Carbonblack, Blue Onyx, Malachite Green, or Brass Metallic

(b) Interior in extended Merino leather; choice of Platinum, Ecru, Caramel, Champagne, Polar Grey or Amarone

PACKAGE 2 (priced around 4000 Euros) includes all of Package 3 plus:

(c) Wood trim in either Piano Black, Walnut Amarone, or Light Ash

PACKAGE 1 (priced around 10000 Euros) includes all of Package 2 plus:

(d) Full leather to cover dash, door pockets, centre console etc.
(e) Headlining in Alcanatara in a matching colour to (b) above

Thanks again.,

As usual, a big jump in price for a couple more minor things (300% plus)! The only real advantage of package 1 is the full leather to cover the dash. But if you're already interested in a black contrast, package 1 is irrelevant. I also read here there is a limit on how light-shaded the full leather on the dash can be due to sunlight reflection obscuring driver's view.

I didn't see any reduction? I get 10% !
That's impressive. I got 8% off MSRP last time and expect the same this time around... we shall see.

100,000 euros is about 126,000.00 us dollars. Getting into rarified atmosphere there.

Devalue the dollar another 25%, as likely, and I can very very thin air indeed. And BMW said what in this months Roundel. They want to sell more of them than they did the e39 M5 in the US?

Me thinks the e39 M5 used car pricing structure just got a major shot in the arm.

Dude! You are buying a sports sedan, not a moving arcade. :nono:

Do you really need the following items?

508 PDC park distance control 743.80
601 TV Function 859.50
609 Satellite Navigation Professional 2297.52
610 Head up display 1123.97
613 On-line package (mobile internet) ?
616 On-line platform technical preparation ?
620 Extended voice control 239.67
638 Armrest telephone 991.74

Don't you already have a cell phone? Don't you already know how to park? Can't you read a map? Why the hell are you watching TV and surfing the internet in your car? You should be driving, not surfing M5board.com, while in your car. You know voice control won't work. Just look at the Mercedes and Infinity systems.

And we wonder why BMW is becoming less of an ultimate driving machine?

It probably differs from region to region, but the E39 M5 was completely loaded at MSRP. Park Distance was included, Alcantara headliner (for the U.S. anyway, not here in Canada), glass sunroof, Navigation, Audiophile sound were ALL standard equipment.

Was this true for European M5 E39s as well? Or have they reduced the standard equipment list for M5 E60 worldwide?
