Hey Guys, just came back from the Playersrun rally from Seattle to Las Vegas. I have to say it’s my first time to join the rally and the experience was beyond any word could descript. Let say we had a great blast with other players and Marcus the event organizer had done a marvelous job to keep all the check point running smooth. Sprite driving with an Enzo Ferrari Prosche Turbo and RENNtech SL in the Oregon Mountain.......... Priceless. If you haven’t done any rally before (Gumball 3000 or Playersrun etc…), it’s highly recommend doing it at least once in your lifetime.

A little note: I had H&R coil over installed to my M5 a week before the rally. After 4000 + Miles hard driving (LA-Seattle-San Diego- Las Vegas) my only conclusion is “Harsh” :grrrr: I wouldn’t recommend to anybody if they look for a more street then track ride quality (Which all the rally were based upon on). On the other hand, it performs like a dream at our track day in California Speedway, but it’s just too much for everyday use. I am researching a new and a lot more streetable suspension now, please kindly let me know if any of you have any experience for the setup.

Take Care

What is so "Harsh" about the H&R coil-overs. I just purchased the coil-overs and have yet to install them. I was planning on installing them next week but your comments are giving me second thoughts. Is it any harsher than how a Porsche TT would ride? Would raising the car lessen the harshness? I do plan on taking the car to the track, but most of the driving will be on the street. TIA

What does this Players run entail, does it cost allot to enter? do you actaully race from state to state or is like an organized group drive? it sounds interesting and I would love to do something like this, where can one learn more about it? Thanks Josh

James,
Ive had the H&R coil-overs on my car for at least nine months. Ive tried raising it to no avail did it help. It rides harsh They might tell you they need to be broken in, but thats crap it rides the same as the first couple hundred miles. We've got a discussion going on the group buy to try and figure something out but H&R and Brad at Evosport hasn't come to a conclusion yet. Im sure there really busy, but I thought they would have an answer by now. I think it needs the 540 spring rates. The car handles really well and looks awesome. But if you just want to cruise and relax on our calif roads good luck. Get yourself a kidney belt.

i suspect the the H&R harshness may be the same as GC -- if you lower the car below stock ride height you end up hiting the front bump-stops all the time -- look at the static position of the bump-stop and strut -- unless there is at least an inch between the bump-stop and strut you'll have a problem

Hi Ducman,

ffice:eek:ffice" />

The car feels like there is no damping at all (“I had set the suspension to couple turns below full height”), everytimes it’s on a rough surface the car will still bounce back and forth until you are sick or vomit (15mph over rough surface is still too bumpy for the ride). Personally I think H&R does a great job on their coil over for the M5, my track day was purely joy compare with the stock suspension. However I might be too old for the low rider harsh driving pimp my ride style. My point is the M5 should be a great car for weekend blast as well as with your in-law when it’s time to be civilized. With my new H&R coil over it will be very difficult to invite your family for a sunday scenic ride.

To bmwusa,

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Players run is not a race it’s more like a rally with a bunch of petrol head around the world (Sorry for my understanding loving wife to endure a full week of car trash talk MPH,HP TORQUE etc…….) Of course, fast car and open freeway is a bad mixture specially with the Washington and Oregon Highway patrol. Within our first half hour in the rally, there were 10 cars already got pulled over for speeding and few of them received reckless driving. But speed it truly up to you and it’s solely to your own judgment. If you want to be safe you can drive within speed limit (They could still pull you over simply our large decal is an admission of guilt). However, I would say you would meet many wonderful people in the group (some even bring along their wife and kids), and the unpredictable stories during the rally is truly a memory for life.

IE: High speed Police Escort from Sunset blvd to Fontana California speedway, we blocked half of the sunset blvd, 101 FWY, 134 FWY with 60+ exotic cars driving 100 + mph/hr with the police on the motorcycle signaling us to go FASTER FASTER. The best part, we saw some local cars got pull over for speeding while we blast them off with the police.

I mean that’s is pretty cool story.

Hi Boz,

I have the H&R Coilovers too, and I am eagerly awaiting Brad's conclusion too.

They were perfection at Willow Springs, but are beating me up on a daily basis.

I hope that we will be able to find an effective solution.

These are not suiting my daily driver needs. And my wife and kid don't like it either.
