  1. IHKA issues

    E34 M5 Discussion
It's the control module with four colour coded plugs. Reading up on it there's a few chips/resistors that could potentially be replaced.
  2. IHKA issues

    E34 M5 Discussion
Having problems with the IHKA module in my M5, just wondering if anyone on here has ever repaired one before? I've always had problems with the heating system but now pretty much all of it has been checked/replaced with the exception of the IHKA module. Its also the cause of the battery drain I...

Hi, been a while since posting on here but due to work commitments the cars gone on the back burner for the time being. Here are a few pictures of the car post paint however these do not do it justice, the finish is second to none.

Here are some pictures of the car after blasting, not too sure why the previous ones have flipped orientation. You can see where the new drain hoses exit through the sills.

Hi, here are some pictures of the sill repair, I used BMW part numbers 41008181707 and 41008181708. Only the rears needed doing as the fronts were done years ago and the body shop passed the hoses through the front wings.

Finally managed to crack on with car recently and decided to go for the full restoration. The rear sills have been replaced and the drain hoses extended. Hopefully going to the sandblasters soon then off to the body shop for a respray.

Recently started work on the B10 as the rear jacking points are rotten, plan is to: Sandblast/paint underside. Paint/powder coat all chassis components. Rebuild using new bushes and bearings. New fuel, brake and SLS lines. New alpina fuel tank ( 81 litre fitted currently ) Reinstate diff cooler...
  8. Tiny Drip Oil Leak

    E34 M5 Discussion
Hi, it can't hurt to check the sump bolts as the cork gasket can compress. However, due to the location I wouldn't be surprised if the rear crank seal turns out to be the problem.
  9. M5 restoration

Hi, the front seats were recovered in Nappa leather by AJ trimming in Wooburn green and the rest were colour matched by the leather surgeons in Reading. I had a spray can made up for the small plastic parts that had faded in the sun. If you'd like to see the seats in person you're welcome to...
  10. primer on the B10 BiTurbo Ladedruck dial

    ALPINABoard.com | BMW Alpina Discussion
Hi, I'm guessing it's the sensor within the turbo ECU. If you remove the E-box cover the turbo ECU has the small hose from the manifold connected to it. The sensor that monitors that hose needs to be replaced.

Hi, for the wheel bearings, trailing arm bearings and subframe bushes a press is the best option, especially as it's off the car. There are three diff support bushes in the carrier as well. With regards to the trailing arm bearings, I made a jig to support the end being pressed in. If you try to...

Hi, your turbo ECU is indicating error 33, years ago I had error code 42 which required calibration of the TPS. If you search on here you'll find it. Tomba helped me out with what the code meant. Maybe worth a shot checking the TPS anyway.

I would also think twice about keeping the SLS/EDC setup. I sent mine away to be refurbed and fitted new mounts/springs etc when they came back. I would'nt say the cost is that far off an aftermarket set and you're doing the brake lines anyway. Was gonna say that the fuel lines come ready shaped...
  15. S38B38 misfire / sparkplug reading

    E34 M5 Discussion
Hi, gotta stick up for the Bosch plugs too here. I've been using them in my car for more than ten years and never had any running problems so could'nt imagine using anything else. On a side note the B10 uses Bosch plugs and as far as I know nothing else is suitable.
  16. Changing dipped headlights to rhd

    E34 M5 Discussion
Hiya, loosen the three screws on the back of the headlight and turn it. Easier said than done with the lights on the car though!
  17. Windshield replacement

    E34 M5 Discussion
Hi, parts 2 and 3 are a metal/rubber combo that seal around the glass, however the screen is bonded in first. If you are changing 2 and 3 you may as well get 4 as the cost is small and there may be a colour difference once fitted. I watched the guy fit mine and we only needed a few of item 8 to...
  18. Windshield replacement

    E34 M5 Discussion
Hi, if you use aftermarket the chances are the surround trim will be of inferior quality and does not incorporate a water diverting aerofoil. Also make sure the installer uses a bit of dum dum sealant in each lower corner to prevent wind noise.
