Congrats on the sale!!! Wish that I would have seen this earlier as my m5 (BK05058) came off the assembly line right before this one.
  2. Oil Temp Not Reaching 210 Degrees

    E34 M5 Discussion
Appreciate the input and sounds like this may be normal re: oil temp.
  3. Oil Temp Not Reaching 210 Degrees

    E34 M5 Discussion
Thanks for pointing this out. Still not sure this is an issue (see below post) but, if so, the thermo seems like a better place to start.
  4. Oil Temp Not Reaching 210 Degrees

    E34 M5 Discussion
I am concerned that the oil temp in my e34 m5 is not reaching the 210 (half way) mark. In my case, the oil temp rises at steady rate and then stops at (or just before) the hash before the 210 mark. Under heavy load, it will just pass the hash before the 210 mark, but does not reach 210...
  5. Coolant Temperature Sensor & Gauge Sender

    E34 M5 Discussion
I did not use Teflon tape and was able to get a good seal with the brown FAE sensor and included washer. Before plugging in the new sensor, I clean the connector and added a dab on Stabil 22A to both sides of the connection.
  6. Coolant Temperature Sensor & Gauge Sender

    E34 M5 Discussion
Update: I swapped out the (brown) coolant temperature gauge sender and the temp gauge stayed pegged at the half-way mark throughout a spirited 60 mile drive. The swap was simple and I didn't need to bleed the coolant. I also checked for leaks afterwards and all is well, although I will keep a...
  7. Coolant Temperature Sensor & Gauge Sender

    E34 M5 Discussion
Thanks for the input. I will likely play it safe and bleed the cooling system after swapping the sensors. I was going to do the sensors one at time to see if I can isolate my issue, but will likely do them together followed by a bleeding of any air in the system. Also, before doing the...
  8. Coolant Temperature Sensor & Gauge Sender

    E34 M5 Discussion
Quick question: Do I need to bleed the cooling system on my e34 m5 after changing the coolant temperature sensor (blue) and the coolant temp gauge sender (brown)? Both should be an easy swap, but not sure about the need to bleed the system afterwards. Thanks all!

I did a quick DIY refresh of my TS covers and installed them on the car. IMHO, the TS covers are much better than the look of the "naked" wheel.

    E34 M5 Discussion
Hi MattH: Your m5 looks great and has really come a long way. I am chasing a "brake liner" warning on my e34 m5 that both Chris and I though was attributable to a bad sensor (which it is not). I would love to get my OBC display working again. Did you do anything special to fix your short...
  14. Injector service

    E34 M5 Discussion
The injectors are from my car and they sure are pretty...lol. In all seriousness, I am very grateful to Chris for recommending this service and can't wait to see what a difference tidy injectors will make, along with the carbon cleaning for the combustion chambers and new ignition wires (when...

  16. Should I sell?

    E34 M5 Discussion
Good decision to keep the m5 and get it back into shape (which is what I am doing with mine). Also, our cars seem to be catching momentum with collectors/enthusiasts and lately are consistently fetching $15k+. A friend of mine just picked up a very nice example from BAT for $21K: 1991 BMW...

I can personally vouch for this ebay seller as I purchased an electric sun shade from him a couple of months ago. The item was well packaged, arrived in the U.S. in less than a week (from Latvia), and was in good shape upon arrival. Note that I have not yet had time to install the sun shade...
  18. Question re: Connector to Outside/Ambient Temperature Sensor

    E34 M5 Discussion
Thanks to everyone for the guidance and especially for the words of caution. I totally agree that taking care of the coolant leak is the top priority and I don't plan on driving the car again until I do so. Having A/C would be nice, but is certainly a secondary concern to the overall health...
  19. Question re: Connector to Outside/Ambient Temperature Sensor

    E34 M5 Discussion
A new belt was installed earlier this week when my shop did a preliminary look at the A/C. I am going to bring it back in early next week as I don't have much experience with installing/adjusting belts and don't want to do any harm. The earlier blast of cool air was encouraging and I am going...
