She's back! Late last year I was fortunate to be able to buy "Stella" back again. Great to have her back and she's enjoyed being been pampered in her cozy new garage. I've treated her to two new batteries, new rear brake pads and some other work. This week she will benefit from an Inspection I...
  4. RHD No. 19 up for sale in NZ

I can tell you this car looks as good in the 'metal' as she does in the pictures. Wouldn't mind having it parked in my garage, but the ensuing divorce would cost me dearly!
  5. RHD No. 19 up for sale in NZ

    E28 M5 Discussion
Yes, No. 19 rolled off the line one day after yours, on 4th June 1986. First registered in the UK on 06-Oct-1986 as D474 FYN by BMW-owned dealership Park Lane Ltd, the car was initially designated as a ‘Training and Development’ vehicle and was kept at BMW GB’s Bracknell training facility. As...
  6. RHD No. 19 up for sale in NZ

    E28 M5 Discussion
Yes it is reasonably priced. Not sure what a UK buyer would have to pay in import taxes on a 30-year-old car, but I'd guess this machine could be landed and registered for around £36000.

Legend has it that this car was repainted from its original Polaris/Imolasilber to Diamantschwarz-metallic, prior to being taken to Hong Kong by its UK owner. It was later brought to New Zealand and registered here in 1999, having had 4 NZ owners. BMW M5 E28 1986 | Trade Me Shipping cost to UK...

Bye bye CSi, so long Stella.......... It was a very sad day for me on Monday, as I said goodbye to 'Stella', my treasured 1994 BMW 850CSi. I doubt if I'll ever own such a rare and beautiful car again - she certainly is an awesome machine, with stunning looks and her own strong personality. Of...

  10. Is this the new high water mark?

    E28 M5 Discussion
Yes, this one has been the subject of discussion on other forums. It's in great condition, but is far from original. Has had the euro bumpers fitted, which is great (the way they all should have been built), but they've retained the equal-sized headlamps, which looks slightly strange. The ad...
  11. Alpinweiss E28 M5 for sale at 4-Star Classics

    E28 M5 Discussion
Honest and tidy looking example with 89k miles, although the engine bay could use some detailing. I'm guessing this car is either #120 or # 123 - can anyone confirm this? BMW E28 M5 » 4Star Classics Prices are certainly on the rise.:M5thumbs:

Nice looking car - are the wheel center caps removed for any particular reason? Hope you have them and don't have to buy new ones.

Thanks for posting the pic above, Simon. That VIN plate appears to be a genuine original, although I'm puzzled over the letter 'A' which looks like an afterthought, or even just some random damage that happens to look like an 'A'. There was actually no rhyme nor reason to the VIN numbering for...

That's not a valid VIN for an E28 M5 of any kind, in fact it comes up as a 1977 E12 520i left hooker. Alarm bells are ringing. I'd suggest you get a picture of the VIN plate on the 4-Star car and post it here for review. Meanwhile you can find plenty of info and detail pics of the SA M5 in my...

Just a few more observations to add here: Apart from the standard 'M535i' cloth interior, dash, console and the ugly wooden gear knob, there are a few other details that raise questions for me: - The spacing on the boot lid badging is not right - the "////M" is too far away from the "5". -...

Hi Simon It certainly looks like one of the SA-built E28 M5's (DC98) with optional sunroof, no headlamp washers/wipers and no wheel arch extensions. However all DC98's had the extended leather interior as standard, so this one may have been a special order, 'pre-production' car. Either that or...
