**Drives the SMG hydraulic pump, a common replacement item on older M5's and M6's** Unlike a standard manual transmission where the clutch is controlled by the clutch pedal, SMG transmissions are electronically controlled and the clutch pedal is replaced by a series of pumps, accumulators, and hydraulic lines. The main component which makes everything happen is the SMG pump which is a notorious failure item on higher mileage vehicles. This electric motor drives the clutch hydraulic pump on the SMG transmission. This motor is a common failure item that can cause running issues if not addressed. **Please note:** New electric motors are supplied with blind holes and new screws. The blind holes have no threads - these are cut by the screws.

      Hey everyone! I'm kind of confused as to why there's two kinds of SMG Pumps listed online. But one is for a fraction of the price. Attached in the links below are the two I'm talking about.

      (1) SMG III electric motor 23017841032 – MLREng
      BMW SMG Hydraulic Pump - Genuine BMW 23017841032 | FCP Euro

      Is there any difference between these two in terms of build quality? If not I'll be ordering the MLReng one because that's one hell of a deal for that pump when as you already know these go for almost $1,000. Any clarification would be appreciated!
