Lemforder is the OE supplier, on the front end I went with Meyle HD replacement and found them to be of very high quality as well.

Might consult your indy, it is possible to remove and press in new ball joints (BMW allows new ball joints to be pressed in once before replacement of the entire unit) and OE BMW ball joints aren't bad at all price-wise, even cheaper if going with Lemforder, Meyle etc.

The rear control arms are complex hollow aluminum pieces which drive the high-price. Beware (for yourself and your shop) when replacing shocks/struts on my wife's E70 the lower shock bolts both seized and snapped off due to the hollow nature of the arms. Best I could surmise fluid and humidity caused corrosion to the end of the shock bolts which then seized up the threads. It was an utter b*tch of a job from that point forward and I ended up drilling out the holes and inserting helical inserts - 0/10 would not like to do again.

My indy said it was too much trouble pressing out the ball joints / bushings so I'll just be going with new Lemforder parts. Still way cheaper than what the dealer wants.
