Strangest thing happened yesterday. I was looking out through my window for a second, and i'm almost sure i saw the new X5 passing by outside. I can tell you it wasn't a E53 X5 nor a X3. I got a clear view over the rear and after checking some pictures of the new one i'm 99% sure it was the E70!
Have others seen the new X5, is it even released? If not when?
Well I saw one one week ago. It was dark but I`m sure I liked what I saw.
Maybe not sooo strange since we also got the Z4 really early... BMWs which are built in the USA seem to arrive very early in Guatemala.
I sat in one, Slightly larger but hard to notice...
When I sat inside the dash seemed like it was pushed futher back than in the old X5 and it seemed like it sat higher off the ground. That could be me as my 4.8is does sit lower than the 4.4/3.0 siblings.
Saw one at my dealer a few weeks ago. Didn't drive it, but gave it a reasonably thorough once over. Can't really tell that there is a size difference visually between this and the older model. Materials look fine, though I do remember seeing a bit of plastic wood in there. Front seats were ok, but not up to M standards (I'm spoiled). Middle seats were reasonably well bolstered on the sides, but not entirely comfortable. The third row is remedial but at least folds flat, and the space behind the third row is minimal, making any kind of carpool travel with (in my case) hockey gear impossible . Soccer parents won't have a problem. Didn't have the DVD entertainment center in this example, but the sales guy said that it will sit low between the two front seats, so it won't be visible to kids in the third row. The rear gate still split opens, making it somewhat problematic for shorter people to hoist groceries/bags deeper into the storage area. Given its lack of cargo capacity behind the third row, my wife has already rejected it as a possible replacement for her current SUV.
