OT: New X5 information

This would make a nice stablemate for the beast. Hit link for official BMW release information

That is one GREAT looking car

I would order it, but I'm happy with my 2006 Benz R350 !! If any of you order, get those RIMS!! WOW

Wonder what the towing capacity will be on the new X5? My wife's daily driver SUV double duties as my tow vehicle for the M3 track car on an aluminum open trailer.

The E53 X5 4.4i was the SUV my wife really wanted but it had a lower towing capacity than the Cayenne S or the LX 470, which is the one we leased, and it didn't have 3rd row seating, which is also why we got the Lexus.

Was thinking of replacing the LX with the GL450 in 18 months' time when the LX lease is up; as the GL has a better towing capacity (7.500 lbs. vs. 6,500 lbs. when equipped with the Class IV hitch) and the reviews have given ride comfort high marks, which is one of the LX's shortcomings especially for rear passengers.

Now that 3rd row seating is offered in the X5, and if the towing capacity is improved to allow me to use it for track events, then my wife would definitely prefer the BMW over an MB.

Looks decent - doesn't look that dramatically different from the outgoing X5 though.

Looks good....for an SUV. Only reason I would get one is b/c of the occasional PITA snow storms we get in the NE. Is the 4.8 useful at all in the snow? Just seems like a truck trying too hard to be a sports car.

Just ordered an X3 for the wife. Have had 2 X5's but don't need the same degree of performance now that I have the E60.

boneman i have an x5 4.6is and i use it all winter while the beast hibernates.during snowstorms it pretty much sucks, cause of the 315's that it comes with i drop the tire pressure down to like 20 psi and tread very lightly.

royk i have a 3k pound car trailer that i tow with 4 atv's all the time. each atv weighs just under 400 pounds so a total over 4500 pounds and the x5 is great. lots of power never hesitates im always in front of my buddies with the escaldes, tahoes etc.

Exactly what I thought Neil. If the Beast turns out to be a POS in the snow, I'll just get a beater truck/SUV.

the beast is def gonna turn out to be a pos in the snow !! mark my words !! in the 04 745i i got stuck in my driveway in less than an inch of snow cause of the wide *** tires w/the sports pkg.

you should have a beater truck anyway thats what i have the x5 for .. start looking now before it gets cold. get like a cherokee or something.

my beast has only seen rain once the 1st day when i had to drive it home from the performance cntr. if i see rain i drive the truck.and its a good way to keep the miles down.
