UFH, just an FYI, BMW just added another incentive on the diesel cars (3, and X5) here in the US. Perhaps it's too late, but wanted to give you a head's up in case...
I heard they are now matching the diesel credit as well - 1800 if I remember correctly, but only in certain parts of the country - not here in Cali of course.

OK, got the new registration, today,07/31/09, leaving for Spartonburg in 3 days, Donie Isley of BMW picking us up at the airport in Charlotte Monday , school Tues. and home we drive....920 miles almost enough for break-in !!! will do pictures............
