4.4 liters Twin Turbo V8, 407hp and 600nm between 1800-4500 rpm.
For this is the first eight-cylinder gasoline engine in the world to feature its turbocharger in the V-section between the two rows of cylinders.
The BMW X6 is the only car in the complete segment of BMW X Models to feature a sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles as standard, which enable the driver to shift gears manually on the six-speed automatic transmission
BMW is the first carmaker in the world to use FlexRay technology in a regular production car.
And last but not least, it almost goes without saying that the engine fulfils both the US ULEV II emissions standard as well as the EU5 requirements in Europe.

BMW and Porsche - can't get enough of them
Ive been wondering who this car is for and Im beginning to think it might be for me. I have an X5 for the kiddies and wifey when her Range Rover breaks (which is often!) and Im thinking when my Alpina lease is up I might want something with AWD and some power and fun but I dont need so much utility and a 2nd X5 would make no sense. Interesting the power bump is only 50hp or so with the turbo. I bet they could get a lot more out of it and this is just the first step in terms of what they will do over the years. Like the wheel torque display- just like in the Acuras. Give Honda credit with its SHAWD...

Yep, I think it will find a nice market spot. And as it will be better to drive than the x5 too so it will find buyers, considering the X5 is really good to drive for a SUV/SAV. Also in the areas where the weather gives some snow its very nice too, not so many people need the X5 sizewise. (of course there is the X3 but still)
The power didn't go up by much, but the same can be said of the 330i vs 335i, 40hp or something like that but the torque is up by a bigger margin and it probably will consume less too. although the hit over here will be the d versions because of taxation etc. and the 286hp 3liter diesel is very nice and me thinks fast enough too.
the sh-awd is nice, but cars like the nissan skyline gt-r and mitsubishi lancer evo have had similar systems (and more advanced ones) earlier. It seems to be the way AWD is going in cars.
